Why does a TV take a long time to turn on?

Last Update date : Jul 22. 2022

Is your TV running a bit slower than normal or apps taking longer to load? Your Smart TV uses memory just like your phone or computer. The more apps you download, the more memory is taken which can cause your TV to run a little slow, or the menu may take longer to load.

Note: Check to see if your TV has any software updates available. Updating the software on your TV could help it run smoother as well.

Discharging or cold booting your TV will help it start up normally again. Doing this clears the cache on your TV and freeing up memory. There are two quick and easy methods you can do to get your TV back to its normal speed.

With the Samsung TV remote

1 With the TV turned on, press and hold the power button on your Samsung TV remote.
2 Continue holding the power button while the TV powers off and then back on.
3 You have just cold booted the TV. The memory cache is cleared and the TV should run more smoothly.

Without the Samsung TV remote

1 With the TV turned on, unplug the TV's power cord from the power outlet.
2 Wait 30 seconds.
3 Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet. Then turn it back on.
4 You have just discharged the TV. The memory cache is cleared and your TV should start running normally again.

You have now performed the cold booting process on your TV. If your TV still takes a long time to turn on or still has any other issues, contact us.
