What to do when the keys on your Galaxy device stop working

If the Volume or Side keys on your Galaxy device are not responding, the issue may be caused by software or hardware. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve the problem.

 

Check for physical blockage

  • Make sure your device case is not pressing on the keys.
  • Remove any dust or debris around the buttons.

Diagnose the issue using Samsung Members

1. Open Samsung Members (download it from Galaxy Store if not installed).

2. Tap Get Help.

3. Tap View tests.

4. Select Buttons and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. If an “Action required” message appears, visit a Samsung Service Center.

1. Go to Settings, then tap General Management.

5. Review the information and tap Reset.

Notes

  • Resetting all settings will not delete your personal data.
  • If the issue is hardware-related, professional service may be required.
  • Device menus may vary depending on model and software version.
