Public safety technology is absolutely vital, especially to the frontline who need immediate access to accurate, actionable information. Here, we share 7 ways the Galaxy XCover6 Pro can support the frontline.

The UK’s dedicated emergency services workforce are constantly on the go. In order to be able to do their job efficiently, they need to remain connected to multiple databases and systems, including the police national computer (PNC), computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management systems (RMS), to name a few.

Public safety technology is absolutely vital, especially to the frontline who need immediate access to accurate, actionable information. No matter where they are in the field, or what environment they are in.

Our latest rugged smartphone, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro has been designed to specifically withstand the unique rigors of public safety. Here, we share 7 ways the Galaxy XCover6 Pro can support the frontline.

1. It’s rugged durability

The Galaxy XCover6 Pro is built to MIL-STD-810H standards, meaning it can handle bumps, scrapes and dirt, even being dropped onto steel from as high as 1.5m. Gorilla Glass® Victus+® gives you scratch resistance and drop protection. And with IP68 water and dust resistance, you don’t need to worry about rain, dusty environments or dropping your phone in puddles. It’s touchscreen even works when wet and when the user is wearing gloves¹. It copes with being sanitised regularly keeping it free from germs. Plus, for noisier environments, our loudest speaker yet gives you up to 70% increase in speaker volume compared with the last generation device.

2. It’s secured by Samsung Knox

The XCover6 Pro is purpose-built for more than just rugged conditions. Samsung’s defence-grade security platform, Knox is built into the device from the chip up. Samsung Knox ensures your data remains secure and compliant with robust data security requirements.

Knox protects data on the device when it’s switched on and off. It can even detect potential data breaches at the hardware level, instantly thwarting attempted cyberattacks. Knox security also encrypts data in transit, helping prevent unauthorised access to data stored in the cloud – which is great for IT managers’ who oversee large fleets of devices. It also benefits frontline responders, who can rest assured that their personal information will be secure.

Gartner’s most recent report revealed Samsung Knox is the best solution to guarantee maximum safety.

The XCover6 Pro supports biometric authentication in the form of fingerprint recognition, conveniently located below the power key, or facial recognition – so you can unlock it with added security.

3. It’s compatible with Samsung DeX

Take multi-tasking to the next level by turning your smartphone into a desktop. Samsung DeX allows a seamless between-device experience that transforms the way you work. When your mobile device can double as a PC, it’s not just efficiency that increases. Transitioning to mobile-only relieves the budget strain of supporting both mobile and desktop infrastructures perfect for the frontline working out of multiple stations and environments.

4. It powers through the longest shifts

The XCover6 Pro’s 4,050mAh battery delivers enough power to cover long shifts, with up to 14 hours of service on a full charge. However, with high pressure and demand for those working on the frontline, the XCover6 Pro also features heavy duty pogo charging, meaning you can recharge rapidly using a pogo dock. You can also swap the battery whilst in the field – perfect for when the frontline can’t get access to a charger – providing reassurance whilst remote working.

5. It enables fast connections anywhere with 5G and Wi-Fi 6E

Stay connected wherever you are. Tap into hyper fast connectivity with our first rugged device to feature 5G - making it easier to access the data or vital information you need to carry out tasks in the field. And wherever work takes you, you can easily keep in touch with colleagues back at the station, or in other locations. The Galaxy XCover6 Pro also has Wi-Fi 6E built in, helping you work, collaborate and share files faster.

6. It supports Microsoft’s Push-To-Talk (PTT) Walkie-Talkie

The frontline need the capability to communicate quickly and directly. Thanks to our integration with Microsoft, the XCover6 Pro features MS Teams Push-To-Talk (PTT) Walkie-Talkie. A large physical key on the side of the device can be used to initiate PTT communications in one press, just like a two-way radio. In fact, the XCover6 Pro comes with two programmable keys, giving you immediate access to your most relevant apps and functions.

7. It captures images in high-res

Need to document and share high-resolution images in the field? The XCover6 Pro has you covered with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra wide camera, allowing you to capture crisp images even in rough field conditions. The device also features a 13MP front-facing camera. An LED torch light improves low-light image quality, ensuring the frontline can capture and share photos and videos anywhere they take their smartphone². The 6.6inch 120Hz edge-to-edge display delivers crystal-clear resolution, and the phone can be configured as a body-worn camera or set up to deliver live video feeds.

When it comes to mobile devices, our frontline expects a consumer-grade user experience from their phones. Thanks to the XCover6 Pro’s rugged hardware and robust security – the device delivers exactly what the frontline need, when they need it, wherever their work takes them.
