Hi, after updating my UK Galaxy S4 (I9505) to KitKat 4.4.2, I am no longer able to connect to Glonass satellites. My phone can detect them and locate them but does not appear to connect/make use of them. As you can see in the attached screen shot, this is a quick test using a GPS test app that shows a normal satellite connected but a Glonass satellite detected but won't connect. I am aware of other users facing the same issue. Can you advise if this is a known fault or issue?

After upgrade to Android 4.4.2, using GT-I9505 Samsung Galaxy S4 on Virgin Australia (via Optus) network, Google Maps no longer provides turn-by-turn navigation, despite showing correct GPS location. It also says "GPS signal lost" more often, even though GPS seems to show accurate location. Very annoying. I cant work it out, but something in this upgrade was broken.

Hi it's not a problem with the app, the phone's GPS is not connecting to Glonass satellites. The app is simply showing that this the case.

No Matter if my Phone is in my pocket or on the table it will just turn its self off and not come back on. I have to hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to power the phone back on and it can do this around 3 or 4 times a day. On one occasion it did it around 13 times in one day.

I have this problem with my phone and I have tried what the samsung support said about updates and resetting but nothing has worked. Next step is to change the battery but since my phone is still under warranty, will samsung be sending me a new battery?

Check that the battery has not blown. This is a known fault and Samsung will replace faulty batteries.

Hi, Can you check to see if a software update is available for your device either by connecting to Samsung Kies or by going to Settings > More > About device > Software update (Network dependent). If no update is available then reset the device by going to Settings > Accounts > Back up and reset > Factory data reset. Prior to resetting, please ensure you have backed up all data via Samsung Kies. Thanks

I have had my Samsung Galaxy S4 for 3 months and all of a sudden it has started to turn its self off, i have to hold down the power button for about 10 seconds to get any response the phone will start up get to the Samsung screen and then go black, the only way to get it to turn back on is to plug it into the wall or a laptop and then it will turn on, i have backed up my phone, factory reset the handset and also updated and re installed the firm wear using Samsung Kies and the phone still has the same problem also some time if i reset the hand set it will continuously rest and never start up until the battery is removed and the handset plugged in to start it up, this happens when the battery is at all levels of charge and has even turned it self off while being charged, any help before i take it back to my phone operator ?

Check that the battery has not blown. The same thing happened to me and Samsung replaced the battery. Batteries blowing is a known fault and Samsung will replace them.

    Galaxy S4 32gb?

    Valentine 1 years ago

Is there any plan to release the 32gb version in the UK soon? 16gb is not enough for me. I have waited as I do want the S4, but I guess I will soon have to look at an alternative phone.

The 16Gb S4 has just over 8Gb in reality. How they can even call it 16 is beyond me. APP2SD should be out anytime for the S4 but Samsung are keeping tight lipped over it. Even getting Flak on their Facebook page, for not treating their customers well. As always we in the UK get treated badly, get the inferior models. Selling my S4 to get an HTC ONE, which I should have got in the first place.

Hi Valentine, We have no UK release date for the 32 GB version of the S4. As always you can register online at our Samsung UK website to receive up to date news on all our upcoming products and services. As an alternative, external memory cards can be inserted to allow for additional memory. Thanks

    GPS in nav app

Just want to clarify before I go on a trip around Europe using the Samsung Navigation app. Does the GPS use network data and therefore cost me a lot in data charges or is it free like the tom tom for example?

Try Navfree - You can download map packs & use GPS - no data connection required. It is free & very accurate.

    Describe the issue

    Samsung E-Support 1 years ago

Hi, The GPS itself does not use data, however, the applications will require data usage in order to download maps. You may wish to contact your network provider regarding data charges when roaming. Thanks
