What’s the difference between
Samsung Galaxy Note20 and the Galaxy S22?

With its 6.8” display and fully integrated S Pen, some of you may be wondering what the difference is between the Galaxy Note20 and the Galaxy S22. Never fear - read on to find out how their features compare.

Design: Is the Galaxy S22 bigger than the Galaxy Note20?

From the feel in your hand alone, you may be hard pressed to notice the difference when comparing the Galaxy Note20 vs S22 handsets as they all have comfortable rounded sides and are of similar sizes. For example, the heights and widths of the Galaxy Note20 Ultra vs S22 Ultra are 163.3 x 77.9 mm compared to 164.8 x 77.2 mm.

The main physical difference between the two series is in their weights. As the Galaxy S22 smartphones come equipped with innovative features and enhanced performance, Galaxy S22 models are slightly thicker and therefore heavier than the Galaxy Note20 Ultra and Note20.

When it comes to aesthetics the two series share similar styles. Comparing the Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy S22 and S22+, all three smartphones have a more rounded, dynamic corner style. Looking at the Galaxy Note20 Ultra vs S22 Ultra, both have confident and bold rectangular corners, as well as a fully integrated S Pen holster, making them the best options if you’re looking for a productivity boosting piece of tech.

One slight design difference between the two models is seen in the Galaxy S22 which breaks away from the contour-cut camera module to reveal a devastatingly slick and simple one-piece backing in a matte finish.

Colourways are also different between the two series. The Galaxy S22 smartphones come with the mystic bronze finish as seen in the Galaxy Note20, available in green, black and white. What’s new are the Galaxy S22 exclusive colours of subtle dark red in Galaxy S22 Ultra and pink gold in Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22.

Performance: Is the Galaxy S22 quicker than the Note20?

Yes. And in a big way. The Galaxy S22 features the new 4nm Exynos 2200 processor, which is our fastest ever chip. This revolutionary processor is paired with 8-12 GB RAM variations for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and 8GB of RAM for the Galaxy S22 and S22+, allowing you to stream and switch between apps at speeds never seen before. With the introduction of this latest Galaxy S22 smartphone, epic is the new standard.

Whilst the Galaxy S22 models have a vastly quicker processor, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra and Note20 aren’t far behind, as they offer the same RAM options paired with the vastly capable 7nm Exynos 990 chip. If you’re looking to sketch, take notes or edit that presentation on the go, the Galaxy Note20 smartphones are still able to handle the tasks you throw at them.

As mentioned before, where the two series draw level is with the S Pen. All the smartphones in question also feature IP68 water and dust resistance, meaning the occasional splash or spillage isn’t a problem, as well as Ultrasonic Fingerprint security, a secure processor, and Samsung Pay capability.
