Eligibility and Team Composition

1. This competition is a team competition with 3 categories: “Primary”, “Secondary” and “Tertiary”, each with corresponding prizes for the winners.
2. Each primary and secondary team must consist of 2 to 5 students from the same school. Each tertiary team must comprise of 2 to 5 full time students from the same tertiary institution (including bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, and higher diplomas), with no restrictions on the field of study. Graduate students are not eligible to participate.
3. Each school (including primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions) may send multiple teams to compete, and students from different grades are encouraged to form teams. However, the same student cannot participate in more than one team.
4. All participants must be enrolled in a locally registered primary school (including private and international schools), secondary school (including private and international schools), or tertiary institution throughout the competition period. Students from overseas institutions are not eligible to participate.
5. If any participant in a team does not meet the eligibility criteria, the entire team's eligibility will be disqualified.
6. All entries must be original works created by students and must not have participated in any other competitions. Plagiarism is not allowed. If an entry does not meet the eligibility requirements, the registration will not be processed.

Registration Details

1. Registration for the competition opens on 3 September 2026 and ends on 16 October 2026, 11:59 PM. Participants must complete the online registration form and submit proof of student identity. Schools and teams that successfully register will receive a confirmation email. Once registration is confirmed, no team members may be added or changed during the competition. If it is necessary to reduce the number of team members, this must be communicated again via email to the Solve for Tomorrow Secretariat at samsunghksolvefortomorrow@gmail.com.
2. All primary and secondary school teams must be registered by a supervising teacher, who will also be point of contact and responsible for entry submission. All tertiary teams may register themselves, handle communication, and submit entries independently.
3. Since this competition has three main topics, participating teams may not change their chosen topic after submitting their first round of entries.

Preliminary Round Instructions

Teams must submit their concept proposal by email to samsunghksolvefortomorrow@gmail.com by 6pm on 20 November 2026. The judging panel will consider factors such as feasibility and completeness when selecting the shortlisted teams.

Semi-final Round Instructions

1. The organizer will evaluate teams based on the concept proposal submitted by 20 November 2026 to select the shortlisted teams, and will notify results by email (the specific notification date will be announced separately).
2. From January to March 2027, shortlisted teams will be arranged to participate in design thinking and Project Clinic consultation workshops, to help students turn their creative concepts into prototypes and further enhance the quality of their work. Details of the workshops and registration methods will be announced separately.
3. Each shortlisted team may submit only one prototype or Android application, together with an introductory video of no more than 3 minutes, by email to samsunghksolvefortomorrow@gmail.com before the submission deadline (the exact date will be announced later), or by courier or in person to "38/F, PCCW Tower, Taikoo Place, 979 King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong." If a participating team has replaced their submitted entry, Samsung and its co-organizing partners (collectively, the "Organizer") will take the last version submitted before the deadline as final.
4. The submission time will be determined by the time received on the email server, and late submissions will not be accepted. Schools and teams that have successfully submitted their entries will receive an email confirmation, and participating teams may not replace their submitted entries after the deadline.

Final Round Instructions

1. The judging panel will select the finalist teams (3 teams each for tertiary, secondary, and primary) from the shortlisted teams.
2. The finalist teams will receive guidance and advice from mentors to prepare for the grand pitch and compete for the top positions.

Authorization and Restrictions on Content

1. Participating Unit understands and agrees that the Organizer will take photos and videos of the entire competition process, which will involve the personal image and works/entries of the participants.
2. By registering, Participating Unit agrees to authorize Organizer and its authorized entities/persons (collectively “Authorized Users”) to use, retain and appropriately modify, edit and reproduce the photos and videos containing their personal image and contents of their entries and/or works (including but not limited to photographs, videos, text, audio, graphics, images and portraits, etc.) for purposes directly related to the future marketing and promotions of Samsung and the Solve for Tomorrow events, including commercial promotion, advertising and marketing purposes, and to use and publish such contents in any media in Hong Kong without any time restriction, without the need to give prior notice to or obtain prior approval or consent from the Participating Unit, and without the need to pay any additional fees, compensation or payment of any kind. Participating Unit agrees that the Authorized Users shall have the absolute right to use the above-mentioned contents and shall not, to the fullest extent permitted by law, make any form of complaint or claim against any person or entity in respect thereof.
3. If third-party information is referenced in the submission, the source must be cited. The contents of the submitted entries shall be original, and the designs, images, photos, text, audio, and videos used in the submitted work must not infringe any third party’s rights (including intellectual property rights, proprietary rights, rights of confidentiality and rights of privacy etc.). The Organizers and supporting organizations will not be liable for any form of infringement. If a participant is found to have engaged in plagiarism or copyright infringement, their eligibility will be immediately revoked, and they will bear all legal responsibilities.
4. The submitted entries/works must not contain any obscene, violent, pornographic, defamatory, objectionable or abusive content or any other content that is controversial or inappropriate; and must not contain sensitive information including but not limited to personal data, confidential information and copyrighted information. Organizer reserves the right of final decision and the right to disqualify such participants.
5. Submissions must not consist of works that have been previously published or entered in other competitions. If reported by others, the Organizers will revoke the submission’s eligibility or reclaim any prizes or awards.
6. The submitted works must be conceived, designed, and produced by students. If other individuals (such as teachers, family, friends, etc.) are involved, please declare their level of participation when submitting the work. No company or organization may participate in the conception, design, or production of the submitted work. If such involvement is discovered, the Organizer will disqualify the team; if awarded, prizes, awards, and certificates will be reclaimed.
7. The Organizer has the right to use the submissions for any purposes related to the Solve for Tomorrow events and may translate, edit, use, and reproduce all or part of the work without prior consent from the Participating Unit or payment of any fees.
8. The results of the competition will be determined by the judging panel, and Participants cannot dispute the results or awards.
9. By registering for this competition, Participating Unit agrees that any personal data provided in connection with this competition will be collected, used and retained by Organizer, its affiliates and its third party service providers (whether in Hong Kong or abroad) (collectively “Data Users”) for the purposes directly related to the Solve for Tomorrow event, including but not limited to entry selection, promotion of this event, contact and verifying eligibility and identity of the Participating Unit etc.. Data Users will collect and use the personal data in compliance with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong) and Samsung Privacy Policy. Please refer to Samsung website (https://www.samsung.com/hk_en/info/privacy/) for details of Samsung Privacy Policy.  Participating Unit shall have the right to request access to and correction of their personal data held by Data Users, and such request can be made to Samsung’s Data Privacy Officer at privacy.sehk@samsung.com.
10. Subject to Clause 9 above, Participating Unit understands and agrees that Organizer has the rights to publish the names of the participating students, their respective schools and grade levels publicly in any documentary footage, media, promotional materials etc. relating to this competition or Solve for Tomorrow event without the need for further notice or additional consent.

Other Terms and Conditions

1. The Organizer reserves the right to terminate, modify, or cancel the event and to amend any published competition information without prior notice. The Organizer has the final interpretation and decision-making authority regarding the competition rules and arrangements.
2. All information submitted by participants must be true and complete. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant whose information is found to be false. If the participants lose the opportunity to be selected due to any fake or incorrect or inaccurate information provided for this competition, Organizers shall bear no responsibility.
3. By participating in this competition, Participating Unit agrees to exempt and exclude Organizers from all claims or liabilities of any nature arising from participating in this competition or otherwise related to this competition. The above disclaimer is not applicable to damage or loss caused by fraud (including misrepresentation), or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
4. If this competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted due to any reason beyond Organizer's reasonable control, including but not limited to computer system defects, breakdown of web services, virus infection, hacking, technical failure and/or any force majeure events, Organizers reserve the right in their sole discretion to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel this competition, in whole or in part, as appropriate. Organizers shall not bear any liability therefrom.
5. Participating Unit agrees to indemnify and hold Organizers harmless from and against any and all loss and damage arising from any misconduct or negligence, as well as breach of these Terms and Conditions for which such participant is liable, including but not limited to claims arising from a participant’s infringement of the rights of a third party.
6. Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant from the competition where it has reasonable grounds to believe that any participant has violated these Terms and Conditions or any instructions and/or requirements of this competition, or that participant may have gained an unfair advantage by participating in this competition or obtained any opportunity herein using fraudulent means.
7. Except where expressly provided herein, Participating Unit shall bear any costs, expenses and relevant tax payments incurred resulting from participating in this competition and no reimbursement may be sought from the Organizers.
8. Terms with the effect of disclaiming liabilities in these Terms and Conditions shall be applied to the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws.
9. In the event of any dispute arising from or in connection with this competition or relating to the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions, Organizer reserves the right of final decision.
10. No person other than the Participating Unit and Samsung will have any right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623 of the Laws of Hong Kong) to enforce these Terms and Conditions or enjoy any benefits therein.
11. An English version of these Terms and Conditions is provided for reference only. If there is any inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
12. These Terms and Conditions and/or any claim or dispute arising from or in connection with this competition shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of Hong Kong, without regard to its conflict or choice of law provisions. The parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Hong Kong SAR.
13. If any terms in these Terms and Conditions is judged to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be replaced by a term which achieves Samsung’s intention to the greatest extent possible, and the validity and enforceability of the rest of the Terms and Conditions shall not be affected.
