How do I use the Samsung Music app?

Your Galaxy device is great for so many things; watching videos, playing games, and listening to all of your favourite tracks. If you never leave home without your headphones then the Samsung music app is the perfect place to store and organise your music, with support for various sound formats including MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC. Samsung Music has also partnered with Spotify to show you the most popular tracks and playlists in your area, helping you find your new jam.

The Samsung Music app can be downloaded from the Play Store and the Galaxy Store. Once the app has been downloaded you will be asked to give it permission to access your storage. This allows the app to find all of the music that you have saved to your device.

Please note: If you are having problems running the app it may be that you need to update your phone’s software or update the app itself.

The app is compatible with Samsung mobile devices that are running Android 5.0 and above. Find out what version of Android your device is running.

When you launch the app for the first time you will be asked to give the app permission to access your storage. If you don't allow permission, you will be unable to use this app.

On Galaxy S4, Note3 and Note4 devices you can optionally give the app permission to access your microphone. This allows you to control the music player using voice commands.

Please note: Some file formats may not work on Android 12.

Adding music to the Samsung music app couldn't be easier. Every time that you open the app it will search through the files saved to your device and will automatically add any music that it finds. All you have to do is download or add some music to your device to get started.

To download music to your device, search for the name of an artist, album or song that you would like to listen to online (there are a variety of different music providers). Once you have downloaded the file to your device, it will automatically appear in Samsung Music. Alternatively, you can use the Spotify tab in the Samsung Music app to stream and listen to music.

If you don’t already have music saved to your device you can find out more about how to add music files from your computer.
