What is Quick Connect and how do I use it?
Please note: Quick Connect is not available on newer devices running Nougat and above. If you are looking for support on screen mirroring using Quick Connect on a newer model, we recommend using Smart View instead. You can find Smart View by pulling down the notifications panel and tapping the Smart View icon.
The Quick Connect feature on Samsung smartphones and tablets running Android Marshmallow and below allows you to easily search and connect using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to find other mobile devices, smart TVs and or streaming devices such as Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV stick.
You can use Quick Connect to share content such as images, videos, and audio.
If you are connecting to a TV, it needs to be capable of supporting Wi-Fi connections, and will need to have this enabled in order for Quick Connect to detect it. Click here for steps on preparing your Smart TV for mirroring. If you are attempting to connect to a non-Samsung TV, please refer to the manual or manufacturer's website to determine how to prepare that device for connection.
Please note that the screens below are illustrative. They may appear slightly different depending on your device, operating system or theme.
To connect to Quick Connect:
On newer models and operating systems, you may need to slide your finger down twice to see the full details of the notification bar.
Depending on your model, you will see a notification bar as below. This will either be Quick Connect or Search phone and scan for nearby devices.
Note that if your device runs Android Nougat or higher (most newer devices), you will have Smart View as an icon, instead of a drop down Quick Connect option.
Select Scan for nearby devices if this comes up.
If you cannot see the device you wish to connect to, make sure that that relevant device has been set to be visible to nearby devices.
Sharing content via Quick Connect:
Depending on the nature of the content you wish to share, either
a) tap the share icon.
Or if the share icon is not available,
b) tap Menu in the top right hand corner (either shown as Menu or three dots) and select Share via
(This option will be different depending on your model and operating system)
Note that if you are connecting to a high-definition TV other than a Samsung Smart TV, you may need to use a Samsung Allshare Hub.
Thank you for your feedback!
