Why does my MP3 player only turn on when it's connected to my PC?

If the player only turns on when connected to the PC, the battery may be exhausted and require replacement.

To determine if the battery is exhausted, see the following steps:

  1. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on your PC. If possible, connect the USB cable to one of the USB ports on the back of the PC.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB Connection Port on the player. When connected with the USB cable, it takes about 4 hours for the player to fully charge although this may vary depending on your PC environment.
    • If "Charging" or "USB Connected" does not appear on the display, connect the device to another port.
    • If the device does not display "Charging" the cable may need to be replaced or the device may require service which you can arrange by clicking on the "Creating New Service" button below.
    • If you have charged the battery for the required 4hrs but the player does not turn on when it's disconnected from the PC, try resetting the player. Please see the FAQ "How Do I Reset My MP3 Player?" for resetting instructions. If resetting the player doesn't work, the player may require servicing.
    • If you have charged the battery for the required 4hrs and the player turns on but powers off automatically, the player requires servicing.

For an in-warranty unit, please contact the Customer Care Centre, who will be able to advise further.

If the MP3 Player is out of warranty, please contact an authorised Samsung service centre, for further advice and information.
