How to enable ‘Extra care’ function

Follow the steps below to enable the ‘Extra care’ function in SmartThings app.

*Ensure your Smart Washer is connected to your Wi-Fi network and registered in the SmartThings app through Samsung account.

1 Connect your washer to SmartThings

To connect your washing machine with SmartThings app, click here.

2 Access to the ‘Extra care’ settings

Navigate to your washing machine's settings within the SmartThings app and locate the ‘Extra care’ option & turn it ON.

3 Customize the Extra care options.

You can typically choose options like:

1.     Self-select care: The machine will automatically determine the best cycle for your laundry.

2.     Location based care: The machine might adjust settings based on your location or weather conditions as suggested.

3.     Extra Rinse: Add an extra rinse cycle to ensure thorough removal of detergent residue.

*Extra Spin: Run an additional spin cycle to extract more water from your clothes.

Unemptied laundry alerts

  • Get notified for up to 24hrs after the end of a cycle. The alerts will go off on maintenance cycles that aren’t for laundry.
  • Alert interval can be selected based on your preference

Keeping laundry rotating

  • Keeps your laundry from wrinkling by rotating the laundry periodically. This is a one-time feature and is only available while Smart Control is On.

Stay Connect

  • Keeps control of your washer until it is turned off or the door opens. This feature is only available while Smart Control is On.

Case 1: ‘Extra care’ function is ON

  1. After the cycle ends, an alert is sent to the app at the set time.
  2. The door remains locked until the End or Confirm button is pressed.
  3. The Start/Pause button on the machine must be pressed to unlock the door.

Case 2: ‘Extra care’ function is OFF

The door lock automatically unlocks immediately after the cycle completes.
