The Samsung HAF-QIN Refrigerator Water Filter is a staple for the majority of their refrigerators and works as expected. We live in an area prone for water that has a distinct smell at times as well as high values of calcium build up. It's a great feeling to purchase a water filter and know that it's always going to do its job without having to worry about its performance. The water is always sparkling clean, has no odors, leaves no calcium build up anywhere when used and is super simple to swap and begin enjoying on a regular routine maintenance schedule. We've changed ours multiple times with zero issues or complaints. The water is always clear and tastes refreshing almost as if you just poured it from a manufacturer's glass bottle. If you have Samsung refrigerators or any other refrigerator for that matter that uses the Samsung HAF-QIN, I cannot recommend this filter more. It just works.

You just twist the old one out and pop the new one in place until it clicks, took me less than two minutes. We ran a few gallons through first like the manual says to clear out any carbon dust. For the pros, it fits perfectly in my Samsung fridge with no leaks at all and the water flow rate is really good. Another big pro is the peace of mind knowing its an official OEM part so it wont damage the fridge. As for the cons, these original filters are definately a bit pricey compared to the generic knockoffs you see online. Also resetting the filter indicator light on the fridge display was kind of confusing until I looked it up on my phone. Overall the pros definitely outweigh the cons because the water quality is great and I would recommend it to anyone with this fridge.

I removed the old one, popped the new one in, flushed the water by filling the jug and disposing it about 7 times (I used this information based on my old Samsung fridge), and that was basically it. The fit was perfect, it wasn't too hard to rotate it and lock (also based on my previous experience), and the water tastes clean and fresh with no weird taste or odor.
The only part that had me scratching my head was figuring out how to reset the filter indicator afterward. I couldn't immediately figure out how to do it, but that's really a refrigerator setting and has nothing to do with the filter itself.

Just takes a twist with the knob to get it locked. This is much better and easier than my old fridge, that required a screwdriver to remove the housing for the water filter to install a new one and it leaked often during replacement. No leaks with this one. Even after a few days of use, I don't see any leaks.
Initially the water came out cloudy. However, I ran through a few glasses of water and it started coming out clear. The taste was fresh and pure for both the water and the ice.
While the standalone water filter for my fridge from Samsung is quite a bit more expensive than generic ones, they last almost 6 months and are worth piece of mind knowing my water is clean.

Installation was very easy - just turn off the water, relieve the pressure by opening the glass fill valve and remove the old one by turning counterclockwise and pulling it out. Then just simply insert the new one, turn clockwise to seat it and turn the water back on. I then ran several pitchers of water to flush out any foreign material that may be present. NOTE - when you first dispense the water, it will splash as the trapped air is released.

All you have to do is turn off the water to your fridge, open the protective door over the water filter, twist and remove. Then you just insert the new filter and twist it into place. Turn the water back on and run some water through the door spout for a bit to get any air bubbles out of the lines and filter. You should be all set after. Very easy. Only took a few minutes to do. Oh yeah, don't forget to reset the filter button inside the door so you don't get the warnings for a while. I also ran the water spot for a bit after turning off the water just to make sure the lines were empty and wouldn't leak everywhere. The water tastes good. No residue or anything. Nice to know I am drinking clean water again. I actually think the water pressure in the door went up a little bit after changing the filter. Guess I waited too long to change it. Was dreading it, but didn't realize how easy it was to change. I'll definitely be doing it now often now.

Speaking from experience, read the instructions carefully, definitely shut off your water supply feeding into the fridge before changing the cartridge. My Hubby said that it was very easy to install the new filter. He just unscrewed the old one and pulled it out. The next step was to then slide in the new one and twist it to lock it in. Easy peazy. When you do this several times you may have to wait for the final pitcher to get cold since you are pulling a large amount of water through the system in a short time and it hasn’t had a chance yet to get chilled. This is a quick fix for tastier water and ice cubes. It is well worth the price for months of clean filtered water.

My only problem with this filter is how difficult it is to install. The directions are unclear and I had to watch a YouTube video to do it exactly right. It is not as simply as removing it and putting it back in. You have to turn it counterclockwise to the lock picture and then turn it clockwise and push it in really hard to get it in correctly. Once it's in its great but it can be a bit anxiety provoking getting it in right.

The filter is really easy to access and replace, and the fridge tells me when it's time for a new filter. The packaging was very eco-friendly - the cardboard box was sturdy enough to hold the filter securely and not get crushed but thin enough that it wasn't wasting material. I had to run water thru the filter, as usual, but once that was done the drinking water was crisp and clear. It's nice that this filter lasts longer than most water filters, filtering up to 500 gallons vs 200-400 on most water filters. I would definitely recommend the Samsung filter to friends and family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our refrigerator's ice had started coming out cloudy and the water had a faint off taste, so I replaced the filter with this one and the difference showed up within the first pitcher the water tastes noticeably cleaner and the ice has gone back to clear rather than the cloudy cubes we'd been getting used to. Installation was straightforward since this is the square design our fridge requires I confirmed our old filter's shape before ordering and it twisted into place exactly like the original with no forcing or misalignment. The authentication tag was a nice reassurance step, I peeled it off and held it against the included magnet and the green stripes appeared as described confirming it was the real thing rather than a knockoff, which matters given how particular refrigerator filter housings can be about fit. Flow rate has stayed strong and consistent since installing it, no weak trickle from the dispenser and no dripping or leaking around the filter housing, which was my main worry going in given how a poor fitting filter can cause exactly that kind of mess. Since replacement is recommended roughly every six months, I've set a reminder so we don't forget and end up drinking through a spent filter without realizing it. The whole swap took only a couple of minutes once the old one was out. Overall this has restored our water and ice quality noticeably and installation was genuinely hassle free, and I would recommend it to anyone with the same square filter style refrigerator who has noticed their water or ice quality slipping.

The Samsung HAF-QIN has proven that my assumptions were wrong. For a start it fits perfectly into the filter slot. No hard twisting or challenges seating the filter were required. It took a while for the water to start flowing, and we made sure that we flushed several gallons through before drinking. I was pleasantly surprised to not see small specks of carbon filter during the flushing process which normally occurs when I have changed the filter in the past.
When it came time to taste the water, all of my family members commented that it tasted much better than before. I know we will be using this filter again and again in the future.
One slight improvement would be to include a set of stickers that indicate the month or date it needs to be replaced. That way we can replace at the right time and continue to enjoy tasty and clean drinking water.

This water filter does great removing impurities from my drinking water and my ice cubes. The filter comes with a QR code to go to the app to scan to ensure that this filter is genuine. The app tells you if the serial number of the filter has ever been scanned to prove authenticity. The filter is easy to install, just twist and remove the old filter then remove the cap, push and twist the new filter. Make sure you hear the swoosh when you turn the filter and then it is ready to go. The directions say then dispense 3 gallons of water to remove carbon dust. Water tastes great and crisp! The filter is centrally located behind a flip up door in the center of the main refrigerator compartment. Installation is very easy. You twist the old filter and pull it out. Then you push in the new one and twist it in place. Takes a few seconds and then the replace filter light resets. Packed in a no frills easy to open box. My only complaint was the lack of instructions on the box. I had done a filter replacement before so I didn’t need them but they would be helpful to new owners.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the Samsung water filter for my refrigerator. It is super easy to install. The refrigerator even notifies when it is time to replace the filter. Removing the old filter is as simple as opening the cover, gripping the handle on bottom of filter and turning counter-clockwise and then simply pulling it out. Install is just the opposite. Insert the new filter straight in and ensure it is seated. You can tell it is seated by when the filter is all the way in. The rotate the filter 1/2 turn clockwise and it will stop rotating. Close the cover door. You are done. Take a bow. Then you just need to run a few pitchers of water through the dispenser to clear air out and any charcoal dust. Don't be alarmed by the water being cloudy the first couple pitchers. That is just air bubbles and some charcoal dust. Water and ice from the refrigerator is always sparkling and refreshing. I used an after market filter before and it leaked because it didn't seat correctly. So, always use Samsung filters.
