Samsung Inspires Its ‘Partners In Flow’ at its Annual Climate Solutions Days Event.
As Europe’s energy landscape shifts, Samsung shares its insights and innovations.
17 October 2022, Madrid - Samsung Electronics Air Conditioner Europe B.V. (SEACE) met with valued partners from across the region for its annual Climate Solutions Day event, held this year in Madrid, Spain. This was the fifth event of its kind, following a virtual event last year. The theme, Partners in flow, emphasised the importance of partnership, especially with installers, and resonated with the new SEACE brand campaign, Find your flow. Plenary and breakout sessions enabled Samsung partners to discover everything from the impact of a new regulatory environment to Samsung’s latest Eco Heating Systems (EHS) innovations.
Market challenges, market opportunities.
Wim Vangeenberghe, President at SEACE, and Christophe Le Luduec, Sales and Marketing Director, explored the impact of accelerated climate action, and the energy crisis.Christophe Le Luduec said, ‘It’s a market in flux, driven by climate change, environmental regulations, energy shortages and economic difficulty. But also, new customer needs. Just the moment for a market disruptor to make its move. And the name of that disruptor is Samsung!’
Manuel Sanchez Sanz, Director Pre-Sales, BDS, PM & Customer Service, told the audience that the EU is redrafting the rules on refrigerants to limit the amount of Fluorinated gas (F-gas) and to drive the industry to invest in more environmentally friendly alternatives. Meanwhile, the REPower EU initiative will provide a major boost to the sale of heat pumps and photovoltaic (PV) products. Manuel Sanchez Sanz said, ‘In case you might think this is just talk, the EC has designated an EU-wide budget for PV, wind turbines and heat pumps of 210 Billion Euros.’
High hopes for the heat pump market
The HVAC industry is in the middle of an exciting revolution. The European Green Deal has triggered new policies and regulations, aimed at fulfilling the EU’s ambition for a climate-neutral-economy by 2050.These changes and recent EU initiatives are accelerating the decarbonization of technologies used for heating our buildings. Manuel Sanchez Sanz, Director of EMEA Pre-Sales, said, ‘There’s big encouragement for people to switch to heat pumps with reduced tax incentives such as lower VAT. This will help the EU to double the current deployment rate of heat pumps so that over the next five years we should have a cumulative 10 million units.’ The challenge will be to provide enough products, and sufficient installers to fit them.
Samsung’s newest Eco Heating System (EHS)
The new EHS Mono HT Quiet is a high temperature, low noise heat pump, ideal for Europe’s residential renovation market.
This heat pump combines advanced features and new technologies to achieve hot water temperatures of up to 70 °C[1] whilst operating at noise levels as low as 35 d(BA)[2], using a 4-step quiet mode. Additionally, it is capable of reliably providing 100% heating performance* even in extremely cold weather (temperatures as low as -25°C[3]). Installation and maintenance of the unit is also easy and hassle-free and this new EHS has been given a Quiet Mark accreditation**.
Samsung Supports Its Partners with its New EHS Product Selection Software
Fast and easy to navigate, the new, user-friendly, EHS selection software is an online system design tool capable of recommending the best-fit heating solution for clients. Among its many features, it assists with heat loss calculations, comparing Samsung EHS to other traditional heating solutions for annual energy use and the return-on-investment period. The new tool will be soon be available on www.samsung-climatesolutions.com.
SmartThings Energy: A Vision for A Smarter Life and a More Energy Efficient Future
Three long-term trends are transforming the energy landscape: decarbonisation, decentralisation, and digitization. For consumers, rising energy costs, increased awareness of energy saving, and the desire for tangible value are driving change. At IFA 2022 Samsung announced its ambition to become the no.1 energy efficiency brand, and at Climate Solutions Day it shared how it can work with HVAC partners to achieve this.
Samsung is combining SmartThings-based connectivity with the energy efficiency built into its home appliance products. SmartThings Energy monitors use patterns and provides real-time data, making it easier for consumers to understand how they are consuming energy. By 2023, 100% of Samsung’s major home appliances will be Wi-Fi enabled and offer the SmartThings Energy service by default.
