Redefining indoor climate comfort
together in the Next Normal

The world has moved into a new era – a ‘Next Normal’ – that has imposed many boundaries on all of us. Life has changed drastically, not just in the way we work, but also in the way we interact with others. In light of this unexpected and unprecedented adversity, we at Samsung remain relentlessly focused on redefining, innovating and enhancing indoor climate comfort. We believe that technology is our bridge to a bigger world, and will continue to be so in our changed reality.

“The impact of this year’s events is tremendous. Not just on our personal lives, but also on our business and that of our partners and customers”, says Wim Vangeenberghe, President of Samsung Electronics Air Conditioner Europe (SEACE). “Our industry used to lean heavily on face to face meetings, customer visits, onsite trainings & seminars and of course the actual onsite installation of our air conditioning systems. I applaud how Samsung and our partners have quickly adapted to the new reality and found new ways of working together. At Samsung, we do not rest. We are here to support our partners and customers in a way that aligns with our Next Normal.”

The new possibilities of the changed tomorrow

In this ‘Next Normal’ we, at Samsung, will keep working together with our partners, to co-create new and valuable experiences for our end-users. We are defiant optimists and true believers of the new possibilities our changed tomorrow will bring us, our partners and their customers. To support those who plan and install our products, we have set up alternative ways of working to ensure we keep offering the required support and service within the changed reality.

Samsung quickly shifted from face-to-face product trainings to an online training platform to ensure (new) installers and partners can keep up with product knowledge, and our European service team is always available to support remotely. We will continue to support with inquiries and other requests, despite the struggle of logistics posed by the new reality.

Indoor climate comfort for tomorrow’s society

We are redefining indoor climate comfort for tomorrow’s society, for every space where people create memorable experiences together, be it commercial spaces or residential homes. We go beyond convention, through our relentless focus on pushing the boundaries of technology, innovation and design.

At Samsung, we call this relentless pioneering. Take for example our Wind-FreeTM technology. This innovation allows people to live, work and relax comfortably without experiencing any unpleasant cold drafts1 normally associated with air conditioning. After launching the Wind-FreeTM technology in Europe in early 2017, we have expanded and integrated the technology into a wider product range, allowing the innovation to be used in a more diverse set of spaces to accommodate our evolving lifestyles. Previously, in 2016, we redefined air conditioning for commercial spaces by launching the innovative and world’s first 360 Cassette with cutting-edge design and stylish integration in any ceiling.

Year-round climate solutions for smart homes and businesses

With Europeans spending 90% of their time indoors on average2, we understand the importance of superior indoor climate comfort and indoor air quality. With seamless connectivity at all times, our goal is to turn innovative products into experiences that create year-round climate solutions for homes and businesses. This includes cooling and heating products, air filters and purification panels, as well as the ability to operate air conditioning systems remotely. Samsung was one of the first brands in the industry to offer a solution that enabled people to operate their air conditioning systems via Wi-Fi and their mobile devices. Today, via the Samsung SmartThings app3, people are able to integrate their indoor climate solution with all kinds of other (Samsung) products to create a smart home or business that seamlessly blends the physical and digital.

Over the last years we have seen an increased demand for improved indoor air quality and a growing concern for pollution and allergen levels in indoor spaces. Additionally, research shows that indoor air can be up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air4. At Samsung, we are bringing various products to the market for both consumers and businesses alike to control and manage indoor air quality. Our innovative range of air filters play an important role in maintaining healthy indoor air quality by filtering potentially harmful Particulate Matter dust from the air, contributing to clean air year-round.

Sustainable indoor climate comfort

The Samsung ClimateHub with Air Source Heat Pump allows for year-round climate comfort without dependency on fossil fuels. In the context of sustainability and the European Green Deal, a set of overarching policies with the aim to make the EU climate neutral by 20505, the use of heat pumps is a much needed innovation in making current and newly built homes more energy efficient and sustainable. By integrating artificial intelligence in Samsung’s climate solutions products for residential homes, we are able to reduce energy consumption and avoidable wastage of energy even further. Although the technology becomes more complex, the customer experience will get simpler and more personal.  AI analyses room conditions and usage patterns and detects motion. Based on this information the temperature on a Samsung air conditioning unit can be adjusted automatically.

Looking ahead

Whilst our work has moved into the digital space and we are meeting remotely more than ever, we have not forgotten the added value of face to face contact. We look forward to a reality in which we can meet our partners and customers on location and to continue building the personal relationships which we have created over the past years. However, we remain realistic. We truly believe the ‘Next Normal’ is here to stay and we shall shape it together with our partners. As we enter this new tomorrow, we remain available and happy to support all endeavors aimed at helping those planning, installing, servicing and using our products and services. We will not stop here, and continue to innovate and bring products to the market that constantly redefine indoor climate comfort.

“We look towards the future with optimism and are ready to take on new challenges. Our approach has to be different and adjusted to our new tomorrow. However, we will continue to challenge the current status quo and go beyond conventional wisdom. Samsung exists to create human-driven innovations to impact everyday lives. For my colleagues and I this means creating the best products and solutions to enable indoor climate comfort for all, and I look forward to continuing this in time to come”, says Wim Vangeenberghe, President of SEACE.
