How to troubleshoot audio issues on wired earphones with your Samsung Galaxy phone

Last Update date : 2026-11-09

If no sound is coming through your wired earphones when connected to your Galaxy phone, the issue may stem from physical damage to the earphones, an incomplete connection, or incorrect volume settings. Follow this guide to inspect your equipment, verify audio settings, and run a hardware diagnostic.

Physical damage or a loose connection can prevent audio from reaching your earphones.

Step 1. Inspect the earphone cable and connector for physical damage. Check whether the connector pin is bent or broken, or if the cable wiring is exposed or severed.

Step 2. Insert the earphone connector completely into the phone's port. If there is any gap between the plug and the phone, the device may not detect the earphones and will keep playing audio through the built-in speakers.

Step 3. Connect your earphones to another compatible device to test if sound plays normally. If the issue persists across other devices, the earphones themselves may need replacement.

Foreign material or damaged pins inside your phone's port can block audio signals.

Step 1. Press the physical Volume Up button on the side of your phone while the earphones are plugged in to ensure audio is turned up.

Step 2. Plug a secondary set of working wired earphones into your phone. If the second pair works, illuminate your phone's port with a flashlight and check for debris or bent internal pins. If pins appear bent, visit a Samsung Service Centre.
