I’m using 3rd party wireless charger. Charging stops when S8 is not charged fully. Why?

For your safety, Samsung has applied a charging algorithm to protect devices from overheating.

If the temperature of the devices is higher than a specific degree, charging will stop automatically.

In Samsung authorized wireless chargers, cooling mechanism (such as cooling fan, air hole…) is applied but if Galaxy S8/S8+ is charged with un-authorized charger which does not have cooling mechanism, the temperature of device or charger may raise during charging (exp. when Galaxy S8/S8+ does not aligned on wireless chargers etc.).

In this case, charging may be stopped by the protection algorithm, and this is its normal operation.

During wireless or wired charging, the device and the charger may become hot.

If the device heats up or the ambient air temperature rises, charging speed may decrease automatically.

If the battery raises to a specific temperature while charging, the charging algorithm which protects devices from overheating operates and accordingly the charger may stop charging. This is a normal operating condition to prevent damage to the device.

Please wait for the device to cool down and begin charging again.
