What to do if Spotify stops playing when the screen is locked

If you find the Spotify app on your mobile stops playing when the device screen sleeps or locks, you should try the below steps.

Check Sleeping appsClick to Expand

The “Sleeping apps” feature saves battery by preventing certain apps from running in the background. Check that Spotify has not been added to your “Sleeping apps” list.

1 Go to “Settings”, then tap “Device care”.
2 Tap “Battery”.
3 Tap “App power management”.
4 Tap “Sleeping apps”.
5 If listed, press and hold the Spotify app to reveal the option to remove.

6 Tap “Remove”.

Deactivate FaceWidgetsClick to Expand

Samsung’s default music widget is a pop-up toolbar that enables you to control media playing on your device. Deactivating it could solve the problem with Spotify.

1 Go to “Settings”, then tap “Lock screen”.
2 Tap “FaceWidgets”.
3 Tap the switch to deactivate “Music”.

“Optimise battery usage” monitors and restricts how much battery is used by some apps, in order to save power. These settings could be affecting Spotify. You can check the settings here:

1 Go to “Settings”, then tap “Apps”.
2 Tap the More options icon (three dots), then “Special access”.
3 Tap “Optimise battery usage”, then make sure the display option is “All”.

Find Spotify, then tap the switch to deactivate "Battery optimisation".
