What to do if there is no sound from your wired headphones on your galaxy device

There are several possible reasons why sound is not playing from your headphones. It may be that the volume is too low, or possible damage to the headphones. Follow the steps below to help troubleshoot your problem. Or, alternatively, find out more about how to connect headphones to a galaxy device.

Please note: The steps below are for issues with a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you’re using USB-C wired headphones or an adapter, these steps will also be helpful, but you may need to contact the manufacturer for further troubleshooting.

Try another set of headphones on your phone or tablet, or try your current headphones with another device.

Please note: Not all features of USB-C wired headphones may be supported on all devices.

Make sure there isn't anything that may interfere with plugging in your headphones. Remove the headphones and any connected accessories such as a phone case. Once you have removed everything, restart your phone or tablet.

If you are using a third-party USB-C adapter that allows you to use headphones while charging a device without a headphone jack, remove the adapter, and then connect the headphones directly to your phone or tablet.

Take a look at the connector on your headphones and make sure it's not bent or broken, and that the cable is not damaged or showing any exposed wires.

Use the volume up and down keys to make sure they are working. You should also inspect the headphone jack on the phone or tablet with a flashlight and make sure there is no debris or bent pins.

If the pins are bent, you should contact the support centre to request a repair.

With the Samsung Members app you can use the diagnostics feature to test that your phone’s features are working properly. To test your headphones open the Samsung Members app and go to Get help > Diagnostics > Start > Wired headphones. Follow the on screen instructions to test your headphones.

Check if there are any software updates for your phone or tablet by going to Settings > Software Update. If an update is available, install it by following the on-screen instructions.

If, after trying the steps above you establish you need to buy a new set of headphones you can browse those available online from the Samsung shop.
