Adjust SmartThings Settings

SmartThings has tons of awesome features, including some you might not even know about - like adjusting the SmartThings panel so you can get easy access to your devices. So, let us introduce you to all of them, in case you missed some. Read on to learn about features and settings in SmartThings.

SmartThings Settings

To find all of SmartThings' hidden settings, you will need to access the More Settings menu. No worries, it's easy.

Navigate to and open SmartThings, and then touch Menu (the 3 lines on the upper left side). Next, touch More Settings - it looks like a gear icon and is located above your username. From here, you can turn different SmartThings settings on or off. Here's what you can do:

  • SmartThings panel: Turn on the SmartThings panel on the Notification panel for quick access. You can also adjust what devices appear in the panel.

  • Notifications: Chose which devices send you notifications when their status has updated or when they have been used.

  • Connected services: Manage accounts for services linked to SmartThings.

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth auto on: Automatically turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you open the SmartThings app, so it can discover devices.

  • Use phone location: Use the phone’s location information to determine your location for automations.

  • Allow phone presence detection: Allow other devices to find your phone using Bluetooth Low Energy scanning.

  • Update Wi-Fi information: Update the Wi-Fi information on your devices if you change your Wi-Fi network’s name or password.

  • Personal data: Manage personal data collected by Samsung related to SmartThings.

  • Auto update device controller: Download and install updates for device controllers automatically.

  • About SmartThings: Check the software version and perform updates when they're available.

  • Contact us: Review FAQs, send an error report, or contact SmartThings to speak with a representative.
