Samsung refrigerator panel will not respond

If your Samsung refrigerator panel will not respond, the issue may be as simple as the lock being turned on. Check for Child Lock, Control Lock, or Dispenser Lock indicators. If the panel is still unresponsive, power cycle the fridge by unplugging it or resetting the Family Hub display switch. If the problem continues, service may be required.

Samsung refrigerator panel will not respond

1

Make sure the panel is not locked.

The most common cause for a panel not responding is that the lock is engaged. Every Samsung refrigerator has a lock of some sort, either Child Lock, Control Lock, or even Dispenser Lock. Family Hub also has a parental control setting to lock access to certain apps and functions.

The panel will indicate a lock icon or indicator next to the words "Child Lock" or "Control Lock" if the lock is turned on, and will also indicate how to unlock the panel.

2

Power cycle the refrigerator.

On Family Hub models, there is a switch for the panel located at the inside top of the top-right door. Push open the small panel to find the switch inside.

On all other models, this will mean unplugging the refrigerator or turning power off at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then restoring power.

After turning the refrigerator back on again, give it time to boot up before trying the panel again.
