Cannot add or resize apps and widgets on the Galaxy Z TriFold

If you have free space on your Home screen but cannot add apps or widgets, it may be because the other mode's Home screen (landscape or portrait) is out of space. Since One UI 7.0, large-screen models like the Galaxy Z TriFold require sufficient space on the current Home screen (landscape or portrait mode) to add apps or widgets.

Cannot add or resize apps and widgets on the Galaxy Z TriFold

Why this happens

The Home screen on the Galaxy Z TriFold operates in both landscape and portrait modes. If one mode is full, you won't be able to add apps or widgets to the other mode, even if it appears to have space.

To successfully add apps and widgets to your Galaxy Z TriFold Home screen, follow the steps in this guide to ensure space availability in both landscape and portrait modes.

Check for space availability on the Home screen

A Galaxy Z TriFold shown in both its folded cover screen and unfolded main screen states with various apps and widgets filling the home screens.

By default, the Galaxy Z TriFold is set to Auto rotate, allowing you to seamlessly switch between landscape and portrait modes by turning your device sideways and back upright. To ensure a smooth experience, always check that there is sufficient space on both the landscape and portrait Home screens for adding apps and widgets.

If one mode appears full, free up space by removing unused apps or widgets and rearranging items.
