Galaxy S26 camera screen darkens when taking photos

The screen brightness on the Galaxy S26 series may unexpectedly dim while taking photos due to active settings like Dim strobing, Adaptive brightness, and Extra dim. Disabling these ambient light, accessibility, and flashing-effect controls, along with manually boosting the display brightness, can maintain stable screen brightness during camera use.

Disable Dim strobing

  1. Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the Quick settings panel, and then tap the Settings (it looks like a gear).
  2. Tap Accessibility, then tap Vision enhancements, and then turn off the Dim strobing switch.

This adjustment will help maintain stable screen brightness during use.

Increase Brightness using the Brightness slider

  1. Navigate to Settings. 
  2. Tap Display, and then use the slider to increase the brightness.

Raising your baseline brightness helps the viewfinder stay visible even when taking photos in direct sunlight.

Disable Adaptive brightness

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Tap Display, and then turn off the Adaptive brightness switch.

Turning off automatic adjustments prevents the screen from unexpectedly dimming when the camera sensor detects changing light levels while framing a photo.

Disable Extra dim

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Accessibility, then tap Vision enhancements, and then turn off the Extra dim switch.

Disabling this feature removes the artificial brightness cap, allowing the camera screen to reach its full illumination while capturing photos.
