Videos not working in certain third-party apps on your Galaxy S26 Ultra

Videos recorded in Portrait mode on the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not upload, edit, or play on certain third-party apps, displaying an error message. This issue occurs due to incorrect metadata saving. This guide provides steps for using the Gallery Assistant app and checking for software updates.

Videos not working in certain third-party apps on your Galaxy S26 Ultra

Use the Gallery Assistant app.

Navigate to and open Galaxy Store. Use the search box to search for and select Gallery Assistant, then tap Install. Once the app is installed, tap Open. Next, tap Improve compatibility, and then select the videos that are automatically detected and listed. Tap Apply to batch-improve them.

Check for software updates.

Navigate to and open Settings, and then tap Software update. Ensure your device's software version is always up to date.
