Troubleshoot Mobile Hotspot and Tethering issues on your Galaxy phone

Internet connection problems or slow speeds

If you experience slow speeds or connection issues:

  1. Test the SIM card. Replace your SIM card with another working one to check if the issue persists.
  2. Check your carrier plan and data. Verify your tethering plan policies and remaining data balance with your carrier.

Family sharing setting missing

The Family sharing option has been replaced with Group sharing in One UI 8.5 and later.

To set up Group sharing:

  1. Navigate to and tap Settings > Connections.

  2. Then tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot > Auto Hotspot.

The Add allowed device option has been removed in One UI 8.5.

To register devices using Group sharing:

  1. Navigate to and tap Settings > Connections.

Child account registration for Auto Hotspot

To register a child's phone with a child account:

  1. Both your device and your child's device must be upgraded to One UI version 8.5. Go to Settings > About phone > Software information to verify

    Method 1:
    Go to Settings > Samsung account > Family > Invite family member > Create child account.
