Troubleshoot no sound issues on a Samsung Galaxy device

If no sound is heard from your Galaxy device and a message related to accessibility settings appears when adjusting the volume, the Mute all sounds feature may be enabled. Features such as Do not disturb, volume settings, or temporary system errors may also affect sound output. Follow the steps below to check and restore sound on your Galaxy device.

Troubleshoot no sound issues on a Samsung Galaxy device

  • When Mute all sounds is enabled, all sounds are muted, including media, notifications, system sounds, and the other person's voice during calls.
  • Volume cannot be adjusted while Mute all sounds is enabled.
  • Menu names, settings, and screen layouts may vary depending on the device model and software version.

Turn off Mute all sounds.

If all sounds are muted and a popup related to accessibility appears when adjusting the volume, the Mute all sounds feature may be enabled.

 

  1. Open Settings, then tap Accessibility.
  2. Tap Hearing enhancements.
  3. Turn off Mute all sounds.

Turn off Do not disturb.

The Do not disturb feature silences calls and notifications except for allowed exceptions.

 

  1. Open Settings, then tap Notifications.
  2. Tap Do not disturb.
  3. Turn off Do not disturb.

Check volume and system sound settings.

Button sounds and touch sounds are controlled by system volume, while notification sounds are controlled by Notification volume. You can also turn individual system sounds on or off in the system sound settings.

 

Adjust volume settings

 

  1. Open Settings, then tap Sounds and vibration.
  2. Tap Volume.
  3. Adjust the volume levels as needed.

Check system sound settings

 

  1. Open Settings, then tap Sounds and vibration.
  2. Tap System sound.
  3. Turn each system sound setting on or off as needed.

Restart your Galaxy device.

A temporary system error may affect sound output. Restart the device and check again.

 

Restart using the power menu

 

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel, then tap the Power off icon.
  2. Tap Restart.

 

 

Restart using the buttons

 

Press and hold the Side key and Volume down key at the same time for more than 7 seconds until the device restarts automatically.
