Samsung Galaxy device battery is not charging past 80% or 85%

If your Samsung phone or tablet battery won't charge past 80% or 85%, it could be due to the Battery Protection feature. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Samsung Galaxy device battery is not charging past 80% or 85%

2

Turn off the setting for Battery protection.

Battery Protection limits charging to 80% or a set level to preserve battery health. Turning it off allows full charging.

Tap Battery protection, select a different option, or turn off the switch at the top of the menu. The switch will appear gray when off.

Battery protection turned off.

Note
If you select the Basic option for Battery Protection and turn on Sleep time protection, your device will continue to pause charging at 80% during your sleep hours and resume charging to 100% just before your scheduled wake-up time.
3

Charge your device.

Connect your device to a charger and allow it to charge to 100% or the level you've set.
