[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm going to start my review off a little differently than I do most. If you are looking at or even considering this soundbar for purchase...GET IT. There. Now, let me explain why... The soundbar market is ever-expanding and slowly getting better in quality. You have those that prefer a full home theater system and they will argue that even a lower quality home theater system (5.1) would be better than even an Atmos soundbar, because the Atmos is usually very "gimmicky". Then you have others who prefer the soundbar due to various reasons, such as aesthetics and space limitations. I fall into the soundbar crowd. So, why should someone who prefers soundbars suffer from "lesser quality" than those who prefer a full home theater system? Well...we no longer have to...and for not much more than a higher quality home theater system would cost! Enter the Samsung Q90R, Samsung's flagship model for 2019. Under this model, you also have the Q80R (the same system as the Q90, just minus the rear Atmos speakers) and their smaller sibling, the Q70R. There's also a Q60R as well, I believe. These were made in partnership with Harman/Kardon and woah, it shows. These soundbars are designed to go with their respective Q-series Samsung TV's, even down to the size, to match. If you already have one of these TV's, even better. If not, they still work great solo - just minus a few "quality of life" features that basically builds the soundbar into the TV (feature-wise). It's definitely not a deal-breaker, however. I personally feel that this series of soundbars is the first to make them a viable centerpiece for your Home Theater setup. This is the Q90R. Let's get to it! Let's take a look at the packaging first - this is usually where our first impressions come from. No standard L-shaped "Tetris" soundbar box here. Nope. This is a full-fledged packaging. This can be a bit awkward (and heavy) to move around and/or carry, so, you MAY need help. Inside, everything is packaged great. Upon opening the box, the first thing I see is a bag with an included USB thumb drive that includes the (still current, as of this review) 1008.0 firmware. I believe they included this because some people were having issues with updating the firmware from the factory version. This 1008.0 version also fixes an issue where the rear speakers would pop/crackle and wireless connection problems. Up top, the first thing you get to is the soundbar itself. Weighing in at nearly 20 lb. alone, this thing is a behemoth! It's color and full metal body/grill are a sight to behold. Getting this out of the box, below you will find the subwoofer, two rear surround speakers and a box with all of your accessories (power cables, remote, HDMI cable, etc - everything you will need for hookup), all well packaged. As far as general impressions go, I'm going to be gushing over pretty much everything for this review. Let me say - this DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN. I am prone to finding issues with things and also being super picky in various aspects when I am setting up and using something. While there are some minor flaws here and there (I mean, nothing is perfect!), I literally cannot find a single thing to dock a star for. The quality of this soundbar is exceptional. Of all the soundbars I've ever owned in the past, or even seen on store shelves, this one is king. The only thing I can think of to advise here is - make sure you have the space for this! Unboxing it is an "OMG" experience and I immediately began wondering how I'm going to make it fit. I didn't. I had to buy a whole new entertainment center to accommodate this beast. And I'm glad I did. Even in the new entertainment center, I had it on the shelf just below the TV and found that the upper shelf was blocking the upward-firing Atmos speakers. So, I had to get a riser stand for the TV just so I could move this soundbar up top with the TV. Without the riser stand, it would have blocked some of the bottom of my LG C8's screen. Ok, setup! You are going to want to spend some time setting this up properly. By "properly", I mean updating the firmware (which takes about 30 minutes) and getting the rears on wall mounts or some form of speaker stands. I will warn you that the rears weigh about 4.5 lb. each and may be incompatible with some speaker stands. The stands I got would not hold them properly and they were sagging. So, I got a pair of stands (Monoprice) where I could just sit the speakers on them and they worked perfectly and look good, to boot! For the firmware update, the maintenance USB port is underneath the soundbar (really, my biggest complaint...). I had to prop the bar on it's backside and pray that it didn't fall over on me while I had the USB stick in, doing the update. The instructions that came with the thumb drive are VERY specific. There are multiple steps and you MUST follow them exactly. I think the reason why a lot of people still have issues with the rear speakers after the update is because they didn't do the last step, which is updating the subwoofer and rear speakers after the initial update to the soundbar. I did the update specifically as outlined and it took about 30 minutes total and have had ZERO connection issues. On the rear, you have one HDMI input, two HDMI outputs and an optical input. There is NO ethernet network cable port on this. I used the optical input for my PC sound and it works fantastic! I use it primarily for gaming on my PS4 PRO and also watch Netflix/Hulu, etc via my TV apps. Everything works great together. I also wanted to say that I've read and heard about issues from others with Samsung soundbars and LG TV's not playing well together. Well, I guess that issue is fixed with this soundbar as well, as I've not had any problems. CEC works great and everything shuts down and powers on automatically, depending on what I'm using. The HDMI ports on the Q90R are 2.0. Nope, no 2.1 here. Which, given the price of this, made me a little sad...and the fact of knowing that next years model will likely have 2.1 ports. But regardless, it's still pretty future-proof because of the e-ARC support. If you also have an e-ARC supported TV (likely via a firmware update, if one was available...I know the LG C8 TV's and previous models did not get an e-ARC update...) that you can plug the device into another HDMI port of your TV and it would basically act as if it were plugged straight into the soundbar. You can get full, uncompressed audio, including Dolby Atmos, via ARC. I did want to also comment on the wireless bass speaker. Not only is it MUCH bigger than I expected, but it's side-firing. Also, if you own cats (or other shedding animals, lol) - be super careful. The side of the bass has a huge, round fabric mesh on it which can easily be clawed and destroyed (and collect lint, dust and fur equally as well). Just be mindful of that. I did also quickly want to go over the Samsung SmartThings app. Honestly, this gave me the biggest impression of all, as I didn't have very high expectations. I was worried that it would be useless, not very functional or just gimmicky. Seeing it had great reviews in the iOS app store, I immediately thought...well, it must not be that bad! It's great, actually. Download the app, create or sign into your Samsung account and get started. You can create a "room" in the app that each of your Samsung devices are located and even move the devices in-between rooms. You can also fully control the soundbar via the app! This includes input, levels for bass, center, left, right, etc. Oh and the main reason you want this app is for the firmware updates. Given that I've already updated via the USB and there's not been a new firmware released since this one, back in July, there's no updates currently available. But it's nice to know I can do my future updates via this app. Finally, lets go over sound quality. Let me preface this by saying I do have a hearing disorder (mostly in my right ear), but both ears have certain tone frequencies that I can and cannot hear easily. I want to say, this Q90R soundbar has the best sound that I've ever heard from either a soundbar or a dedicated Home Theater System. Cranking up Fortnite on my PS4, which was PLENTY loud for me, even at 20% volume (it goes to 100%...), I was able to hear sounds and effects that I've literally never heard before. EVER. Mind blown. Even my wife was seriously impressed and she's not easily impressed by electronics and gadgets. I also tested the new Borderlands 3 and Remnant games and both were equally impressive! I moved to Netflix, via my LG C8 TV app and tried out Love, Death and Robots (which also has a great Atmos track)...it almost blew me out of the room. I'm used to the volume of this show being super low on other soundbars I've played it on. Not now! ***Because of this soundbar, I can hear things so much better and so much clearer and for that, Samsung, I thank you. Thank you for providing me with something that will allow me to experience and enjoy fuller and more sound in my games and movies that I otherwise would have never experienced. I've never been this far immersed in sound in my life.*** In conclusion, I absolutely LOVE this soundbar and hope that it lasts me many, many years, until I'm finally ready to move over to HDMI 2.1. This gets 5-stars all the way. The price and sound quality alone kills any other soundbar out there and even some standard 5.1 home theater systems. I seriously can't recommend this (or again, any soundbar in the Q-series) enough. Buy it.

Well here is my Review of Samsung Flagship Model HWQ90R Soundbar I have been playing with it now for Mr about a week now First impression is gorgeous looking Subwoofer is well frankly awesome very punchy so that ticks my box Now to the Soundbar looks good sound is clear and not distorted Now to the rear speakers firstly they look awesome love the concept of speaker facing up words very clever NOW sound quality of rear speaker well sorry Samsung to say this but it’s shocking quality to quiet I have updated to latest software no improvement whatsoever I have lots of sound systems for tv this should be hands down the best on the market but it’s not so Samsung sort this problem out ASAP watching a film is awesome but your bet getting that real sense for example watched a war film I should have got the sense that the helicopter was be hind me nothing So should I recommend this not at the moment until they have fixed that problem

I owned a couple a av receiver onkyo denon yamaha and boss but this one qr90 is my new favorite. No messy wirings and not get hot at all even playing all day. Sound quality and clarity is fantastic no distortion at all. Movie and music all I can say is just wow! You can play any device via bluetooth and hdmi + earc easy connection. And one more thing I like is compatible with my grand videoke very clear sound no mic distorsion noise I sing like a pro hahaha! I'm very happy I've chosen this sound bar to setup in my new house. Highly recommend to anyone new and old home sound system pannatic this is the real deal that you wont regret.

Bought this recently to go with my QLED TV, having had some soundbars in the past I was looking for something which would give me Dolby Atmos and 7.1 without having to go the whole route of wiring up by living room and drilling holes in the ceiling. This fit the bill perfectly. I cant even being to compare it to my old 3.1 sound bar this thing is on another level. Amazing sound quality. Yes its not the cheapest but then you get what you pay for. highly recommended to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of getting speakers fitted into your ceiling and wires everywhere but still wants to experience quality Dolby Atmos 7.1 sound.

I have concluded that after many research and carefully reviewing the specifications Samsung Q90R is an ideal home theater system for a small to mid size room / hall. The sound clarity was clear and crisp. The only deal breaker is the low frequency response. The advancement from HW950 to Q90R in addressing this drawback seems negligible. I wish to propose to Samsung to consider packaging with SWA700 Subwoofer (pairing via Bluetooth adds latency) or even better allowing a RCA LFE output on the soundbar for more punch demanding customers with the option to purchase without the Subwoofer so that a serious Subwoofer that can deliver 20Hz range can be connected.

This is sold as premium product, but there are huge lacks that should be implemented: -possibility to set speaker distance - without it we cant really have proper sound from around -configuration using application - extremely limited, all settings should be possible to change using phone application -no test sounds - there should be possibility to execute some test sounds to verify all speakers - this is minor, but would be usefull Besides, this soundbar delivers great sound in Atmos mode. Often in Dolby Digital sound is flat (some sound settings helps). Adding speaker distance and more configuration possibilities would probably change sound to much better level.

Worked out of the box, and the sound is very good. So far I've not experienced any rear speakers or subwoofer disconnection issues. However, your mileage will vary, depending on your setup and how much tinkering you want to do. There's no easy way to properly calibrate the setup. Inputs aren't directly addressable, you have to cycle through the list of sources (not an issue if relying on HDMI-CEC). The only real problem is that I cannot get ARC to work with the soundbar and my TV (even though ARC on my TV works perfectly well with my old audio setup). I'm hoping that when I upgrade my TV, which will have eARC, this feature will work, otherwise I will be very disappointed.

well, i purchased this on april 2020, and i was very pleased with the sound. well about 3 months ago (exactly 1 month out of the 12 month warranty period) it began restarting the display in the middle of everything i'd be watching. and i'd have restart whaterver i'm watching and find my place in the movie or show. sometimes it does it back to back to back for as long as 15 minutes. it's very frustrating to not be able to watch something. i feel like just unplugging it a promoting to a paperweight. and expensive paper weight. i'll be contacting samsung, i hope they have a remedy for this disgusting issue.

i was told that the q90r was the best sound bar on the market. it's true that when it works, the sound is great. however, be ready for some technical problems. i have e own that sound bar for almost a year now, and i still have a hard time connecting it to my living room tv. i have error message after error message. it connects pretty quickly to my old tv in the bedroom, a tv that i never linked to the the sound bar.......... worst purchase. stay away from that expensive sound bar or be ready to watch movies on sunday night with your regular tv sound. i wished i had read the reviews before purchasing.

i purchased the q90r a few years ago and have been extremely happy with it. the first couple of days i had problems with the surrond speakers and sup not staying paired. as per the notice included in the box (big box and small piece of paper) i figured out howtoupdate the firmware. that was it works like a champ it has been around 3+ years now and not 1 hiccup in any part of using, operating or listening to the q90r. about the only thing that l can even think about that is a setback for me is the base from the sub. it is just to overpowering for use in my condo. even at -12 it is a bit disturbing to the people on the other side of the wall. amazing if you are living in a single house.

G'day internet people . this soundbar is bloody awesome sounds great when ATMOS is on . Ive been reading all most of these reviews .. have you tried googling the problem or looking on YouTube ??? or have a read of the manual ? i had a little problem getting atmos to turn on as i have a 4K TV and a 4k DVD player . a little google search and i was good to go :) . and to the people who are looking at buying this system go to Harvey Norman - Bing Lee or The Good Guys ask for a demo .. i did and a got the system .. so now when i watch a movie with great sound so do the Neighbors hahah

This product is bug ridden and Samsung for some reason aren’t acknowledging the issue. There are many reviews detailing the issues. For me, I have poor connection and constant drop outs when connected to mobile phones or Alexa devices in the same room. When connected to the normal television signal, the subwoofer and rear speakers will more often than not, be connected but with a terrible connection. This connection drops out all of the time. I’ve tried a new soundbar and the same issue happens. Resetting or re adding the speakers does not help either. I’ll be sending this back.

every time i turned on the TV, the sub stays off (red light at the back) and I have to end up turning everything off and sync again. You'd expect a sound system of this price to work properly, but not in this case. this is getting very annoying as it disconnects far too often!

Oke the sound of the soundbar is amazing but when in atamos mode most of the time the sound is very soft out of the rear speakers (i hear it when i put my ear to the boxes even at +6) In dolby mode the rear speakers work great. seems like a software issue but again i am no engineer on samsung. The tech support on the phone first denied it. then explaining i actually work in the business they admitted they had the bar them selfs and are waiting for an update.. Samsung please do something about this. till then 3 stars. If the rear speakers would work this system would be 5 out 5

i'm so disappointed with samsung ,i bought the soundbar last month it sounded great the first day , second day subwoofer is making some distortion noise, i called samsung ,we sent the subwoofer for repair , i received the subwoofer after two weeks, perfect i put it back on again and updated ,it only worked for one day again ,second day same problem with the noise ,i called samsung again ,i sent the woofer back for repair ,it been a week ,no update yet ,all my devices in the house are samsung product including all my family phones ,i just bought the new q900ts tv to pair with the soundbar, this suppose to be samsung premium products, but i'm only getting headache , i'm considering returning everything back.

great sounding soundbar. bought this over a year ago and is perfect, is pretty good with dolby atmos but haven’t heard what the dtsx sounds like. for the money youre paying its great, would definitely recommend buying a second subwoofer to fill in the deadzones in your room, right now i have two subs hooked up and its sounds better for music and my games. and if you own this and have issues just call samsung and theyll tell you how to fix any of the issues, i haven’t had any issues with mine so far. also if you are having issues your bar might just need to be updated, theres a usb port on the bottom of the bar. i don’t remember how to get the stick but updating it should fix most of the issues that might come up

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] it is like you are in a movie theater. the rear speakers are great, and the subwoofer really makes the ground shake. the only problem i have been having is when i turn the tv off and turn it on the next morning, sometimes the soundbar does not automatically connect to the tv, so the tv goes straight to "tv sound" instead of "arc". it doesn't happen every day, but it happens about 50% of the time. when i turn the tv off, it automatically turns off the soundbar, but sometimes when i turn tv back on the soundbar does turn on automatically, but it fails to connect to tv for soundbar sound. it is a little frustrating because i then have to turn off all components then turn them on again for the tv and soundbar to connect.

It’s looks great and when atmos is fed to it sounds really good..But there are too many faults for such a pricey soundbar, nothing seems to get resolved by Samsung. Just look on the forums us and uk for the issues such sub and rear speaker disconnections, poor sound volume from rear speakers in music, general tv viewing etc, Spotify volume too Loud when adjusting via app, HDMI ports on soundbar are very temperamental, don’t seem to be able to control the inputs properly, and lastly the smart things app features are poor, should be able to adjust the speakers individual volume on the app not just on the remote, also be able to display the input sound format on the app... the list goes on of the lack of support from Samsung.

Bought yesterday 3rd August. A USB memory stick and instruction sheet for performing a firmware update Ver 1007.9 was included in the box, a quick google search says this should address the sub & rear speaker disconnects. It has so far performed superbly with Captain Marvel blasting out in full Dolby Atmos and I've connected Amazon Alexa to play music and radio. It may not be for the audiophile purists into their separates but the virtual absence of wires and the dead easy setup makes for stress free viewing and listening! I am happy with the product.

A week in and the unit doesn’t function as expected. Dolby Atmos is not processed at all (which was a main selling point for me), and despite having spent literally hours on live chat to three different ‘support representatives’ (one of whom didn’t have even the slightest clue about Atmos), I am finally having the case escalated to a ‘specialist’. Very disappointed as I’ve always rated Samsung TVs very highly. Should have listened to my gut instinct and bought Bose, but I wanted to stay loyal to Samsung as my TV is one of their models. More fool me.

I bought QR90 just yesterday and found that rear speakers does not come with any mount. Should i buy a 3rd party wall mount kit, if so, can you please at least recommend which one would be compatible. I will be updating the firmware today to mitigate rear speakers connectivity issue which i encountered last night upon setting it up. After reading all these reviews here, i am pretty skeptical about this purchase now. I will return this product if i have to take it to service center as i don't have spare time for such visits. Thanks.

We bought this a couple of weeks ago and I have been thoroughly impressed. It all connected up very easily using the samsung things app and we haven't experienced any of the earlier issues some buyers have experienced with speaker disconnects. Not sure if a firmware update has fixed the issues but we're happy. It is quite an expensive outlay for a soundbar and it's fair to say we probably would haven't bought it but for the 50% cashback offer with the TV but having now experienced it I'm not sure we'd be without out - very impressed.

See, when I purchased this sound bar system, I wasn't too sure, looking at the reviews. On top of that, after purchasing, my expectations weren't met too, as didn't get to enjoy the dolby experience (the back firing speakers weren't responding despite being online). However, after few months, may be after an update, the issue got fixed, oh boy, the dolby experience just came back to life. The sound system just takes you to the next level. It's amazing. However, I'm still not sold on the Alexa compatibility. It's not as smooth.

Often in Dolby Digital sound is flat (some sound settings helps). Adding speaker distance and more configuration possibilities would probably change sound to much better level - after those changes I would recommend this product. Without it, I cant unfortunately.

I bought this by looking at its features and the Harman/Kardon name on it. I was very excited when I bought it. But that excitement did not last long. I have tried everything, but the sound from the rear speakers is still negligible. I know that Samsung is aware of this issue as numbers of customers have complained regarding this over the internet. Please come up with another software upgrade to resolve this issue ASAP. I know that its Harman/Kardon (with Samsung) product as the soundbar say, but considering these issues and sound quality, it feels like its just a random soundbar with no brand. Please fix it asap, I (and I am sure other customers) would like to feel sound as its mentioned in the specification or described in your website. Thank you.

I bought this sound bar with my new LG C9 OLED, works really great, the sound quality is like you're in a movie theatre ! Many reviews talk about problems related to speakers disconnecting..I think that was before the firmware update because I didn't experience any of these issues. I just wish that there was wall mount for the rear surround speakers, I ended up buying a book shelf from amazon that fits really nicely the speakers. Movies with Dolby Atmos are so much fun to watch and to enjoy the sound ! Highly recommend !

Switching from apps (Netflix/Google play/etc) back to terrestrial television occasionally leaves the TV displaying the 'no signal' page but still playing television audio - the only way to clear has been to disconnect and reconnect the One Connect cable. Have tried this with 2 x Q800T soundbars with the same problem from both. Without the Soundbar the TV works without issue. TV and Soundbars using latest firmware revisions. The sound from the Soundbar is excellent, but it's no good if it doesn't work with a same brand TV.

Just to make this quick, when switching between hdmi, it tends to not recognize what’s plugged into the hdmi ports. Unplug and plug back in, it magically works again. No thank you. Also, I have a small living room but the rear speakers and sub continuously disconnect and reconnect throughout a movie, using either surround or Dolby. I am frustrated and would return this if it wasn’t past the 15 day allowance. Going back to my other system. When this works, it’s fantastic. All updates were installed as well. Thank you.

Wish I had never wasted my time money and effort. Form the beginning the sound would go up and down by itself. Returned and ‘repaired’ came back and digital lights system would only show 1cm of the display. Returned again for ‘repair’, they misplaced the power cord, finally got the new one in and it won’t link up...even when was working was told it would be ample for the area we have. Doesn’t sound better then the actual TV itself. Initially we went out and bought the only surround speakers that can go with it, and they are very low sound and might aswell not be there. The whole thing has been a head case for over a year, extremely disappointed, absolutely worst purchase and regret ever being talked into buying the piece of rubbish.... don’t buy it whatever you do

this could have been the absolute best soundbar surround system on the market, if samsung would have done a better job on their side. sound quality when it works is fantastic. but! right out of the box the rear speakers started having issues, disconnecting and crackling sound. but after a firmware update this was partially fixed. now im left with one of the rear speakers only connecting when it feels like it and dropping signal constantly. wifi connecting is poor with this device. no google assistance?? just terrible

Only just set up this new soundbar... and oh what a brilliant sound reproduction and cinematic experience. Reproduces both low and high tones in great detail and feels just like the cinema. If loud is what you want, then loud is also what you get (painful on the ears though (lol)). Several ways to connect to TV - WiFi, optical,Bluetooth, HDMI. Haven't used all the features yet. Looks neat just under television. Great product, a little more expensive than others but as far as i'm concerned, worth it. Yes, I recommend it.

Ok so as the title says, I NEVER do this, however after reading all of the people bashing this sound bar I had to come back and write a review. I am ever so happy I watched YouTube reviews instead of listening to the people complaing on here.. Look I am going to be 100% transparent. I am a very avid sound guy. I enjoy absurdly loud stereo systems and set ups, but they MUST be clear, percise, and hit on all marks. Let me first state this system does EXACTLY that, but on such a level that I've never experienced before. My last truck had over 7,000 in audio equipment and would hit 146.6 dB (ie: a rock concert is 120 dB) That being said, allow me to review this system.. ONE WORD: Enthralling BREAKDOWN: Let me start by saying this system is nothing short of incredible. I was expecting greatness for one simple fact; Harman/Kardon and Samsung combined for this?!? Anyone that knows anything about sound knows the name "Harman/Kardon". This sound bar has hands down surpassed my expectations. PROS: +The sound REALLY engulfs you. It's utterly impressive. +I am running my Alienware laptop straight into the sound bar, and making the sound bar push the graphic signal to my TV. It is pushing 4k with zero issues (makes me wonder if it goes higher). +17 speakers in such a small compact design. +HIGH quality and time invested into making this bar. +The price is inferior for the level of performance recieved ++The preset sound settings already integrated into the system are some of the best I've ever heard to date! CONS: -Dobly Atmos takes a minute to set up on the system. (this is at no fault to Samsung) -The mounting bracket more than suffices, however if you were to mount the sound bar with even the slightest degree of angle, I would question the screws that go into the bottom of the sound bar itself, as they are pretty thin. -It comes with a cheap HDMI cable, don't waste your time with this, buy a real cable. -The subwoofer packs an incredible punch at low volume levels, it's a nice surprise really, however I would question it under more intense levels. (Note: this sub has shaken my couch and it is sitting on a concrete floor) -Finding an "under TV" sound bar mount that will support it weighing in at 19.4 lbs. PERSONAL NOTES: I have found that volume level 35 (system goes to 100), +3 Treble, -1 Bass makes for PLENTY OF SOUND. I have pushed the system to 50 once to see what it would do while I was playing a shooter game. Unbelievable period. I have placed the bar on 32 inch speaker stands making it at ear level. I will attach picture to reference my set up. FINAL THOUGHT: This is a sound bar that FAR surpassed and exceeded my expectations period. With it capable of pushing both Dobly Atmos and DTS X, it's future proof. It will quite possibly be the last sound bar you will need to buy for the next 10 years easily as both of these technologies are ground breaking and new. I sincerely hope this review helps you in your decision on this system.

Quite simply the most outstanding sound and style. Good feel, look and doesn't feel cheap or plastic. Complete disbelief with the easy of set-up. I didn't need to run wires or pair anything. Simply put speakers in position turn power on .......that's it. It takes longer to get it out of the box. Dolby Atmos is a clear game changer. I'm now going to be a bit ridiculous but I would like if they could maybe do a firmware upgrade and bring out a kit to possibly add another set of wireless rear speakers. PLEASE.

brilliant surround sound thats loud and great looking. with its new 4k signal passthrough unlike the older model makes this even better for consoles/4k bd players. i would give it a 5 star rating if it didnt need a samsung TV to be able to connect it to the wifi for updates/streaming music over the wifi (as i have a Sony bravia), be good if it had an interface that shows up on the tv to do settings via tv screen. other then that id recoomend it for someone thats into movies or gaming that loves some awesome sound.

Bought it a week ago. After following the user manual many and many times, sound bar is not connecting to tv and when it plays on Bluetooth we can’t connect subwoofer and speaker all together and automatically. Every time we turn the sound bar off, we need to connect everything back manually one by one. Completely disappointed, having a high end sound bar at home that doesn’t work is really really frustrating. We buy something so expensive thinking it’s going to be the best and realize it’s the worst.

owned about 1 glorious year. nice sound clarity, hard hitting bass, full home theater audio. i loved this soundbar! .... until i got the 1012.6 firmware update. minus 1 star. ok, let's talk about that 1012.6 firmware update. 1. the front and rear speakers are more prominent than before. 2. a "hidden" feature was added to incorporate the rears for non atmos media playback, if you choose.good 3. you can now hear the the faintest ambient sounds, that you may have missed before in a movie/tv show. now here's the bad part of the 1012.6 firmware update remember that hard hitting subwoofer bass you use to have? it was replaced with hollow , no mids, no floor vibrating bass. the subwoofer now sounds like a cheap knockoff subwoofer. all the bass is gone !! sent in for diagnostics.

I brought this for my 40th birthday combined with 5 year cancer remission. Having paid alot of money for this once in a lifetime purchase all I can say is wow. The sound is absolutely stunning. It can handle anything. Once set up is correct you will not be dissapionted. Dolby atmos puts you in the action like nothing I've herd before. Music in TV shows makes for a more enjoyable experience. Everything sounds better clearer. Im going to save up and buy a Samsung TV to go with this as I'm so impressed.

I’ve read a lot of negative here proclaiming poor volume from the sub-woofer and rear speakers and a disappointing experience. I’d suggest those people just haven’t set their system up correctly and taken the time to tweak their system by setting the main centre volume lower and sub-woofer and rear speaker higher. I’ve in fact had to turn down the sub-woofer because it was just too loud. Now it’s perfect. Rear speakers when set up correctly also work well. All in all a great system that works well.

I received mine on last week and so far are very impressed. The Dolby Atmos sound is amazing and was literally blown away. Pump up the volume and you can actually physically feel the sound. I did not have any issues with rear speakers or subs disconnecting at all. I used the latest firmware update which would have helped. Watching a 4K disc with Atmos is amazing. I put on Spiderman into the Spiderverse and the opening 5 minutes is awesome for an Atmos sound demo. So far I highly recommend this. If you already have a 5.1 or 7.1 sound setup, then getting this you will notice the difference. I had a Samsung 7.1 home theatre setup with 4 tall boys speakers, centre channel and sub-woofer. I didn't think upgrading to this setup would be such an improvement. I was amazed at the difference :)

I have a QA65Q7FAM TV and I am on my third different type of Samsung sound bar and it seems after six months also the TV and sound bar does not work with the TV ARC, this is starters and get embarrassing taking back the sound bar to the shop.. Is it something to do with the two devices not talking to each other or software problem I've done all the troubleshooting problems but it always comes down to reconnecting the HDMI into HDMI ARC 2 slot on the TV.. There's different problem here...

Have just bought this soundbar - it is impossible to get subwoofer and surround speakers to connect to soundbar. Seems to be a massive problem experienced by many other users. We have spent hours following instructions on the Samsung site and other webites on how to resolve this, but to no avail. The support line were not interested in helping us - So basically we have bought a very expensive item that does not work. Surely you would expect a brand new product in the price range to work!

Bought with a 65Q90R tv, expecting the two products with the same name and marketing as being designed to be used together to just be plug and play. Whilst this is mostly the case, there are issues with ARC and the TV remembering what devices are connected via Anynet+. After extended power off time, when turning the TV on, the sound bar comes on with it however no longer connects via ARC. Turning everything off at the wall for 30 seconds and turning back on seems to fix temporarily.

I bought this several weeks ago but still trying to synch, so it doesn’t look like the timings are out, sound, bass etc is excellent but many Sky Q channels, don’t seem to be synched I’ve adjusted Samsung sound bar/TV and Sky Q but no change still not working correctly, I am using good quality HDMI cable TV to Soundbar but many channels are not correctly synched, when it’s just the TV speaker on its own no probs, but with a good quality HDMI cable going all of 40cm it’s rubbish

This soundbar sounds incredible BUT it disconnects from the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers when it's turned off and the only way to reconnect is to manually reconnect or power cycle the speakers. This is clearly a fundamental systemic flaw and one that must be addressed and fixed. Please Samsung lets us many users experiencing this know what the nature of this problem is and what we can expect as a fix. Is it a firmware update or a hardware issue? How did this pass testing?!?

This sound bar kit has outstanding sound, crisp clear and enough bass to to kick the next door neighbor! I cant fault it! Not sure why people are complaining about the rear speakers disconnecting as i havent had any issues although they may have not had the update. My soundbar came with a usb stick to do a system update which may have solved the issue. My only gripe was the price but you get what you pay for and this is amazing and complimented my new 65inch QLED TV perfectly!!

Had this soundbar for a couple of months now. Sound is quite good and punchy after some adjustments. Would have been good to have a mic for some auto tuning for your room. Disappointed with the lack of eARC which was promised by Samsung and commicated to the media about having. This is even mentioned in the reviews Samsung link on the Q90s page (av forums). This feature was one of the main reasons I bought this over competitors and being misold this is unfair.

I bought this after reading numerous reviews and had very high hopes. My aim was to upgrade my old Sony 2.1 soundbar. There is a serious lack of bass with this product. Whereas the old Sony uses it's subwoofer cleverly to incorporate bass around the highs and mids coming from the bar, the Q800T appears to only use it's subwoofer very low frequency signals. Yes this results in very good deep bass when the effect is called upon, but for most audio (speech, sound effects, etc) all you really hear is treble and mids. I have set the subwoofer to +6 and have set the 'bass' to +6 and treble to -2 but bass is still lacking, this is across all sound modes. There is an Advanced EQ which helps slightly but is only available in standard mode, but not it the Adaptive, surround, or Atmos modes (the modes this bar was purchased for!)

Out of the box this is pitiful. Its plagued with connection issues in that the wireless speakers just dont connect unless you repower all components 1 by 1. After a lot of digging I installed firmware update 1008 which solves the issue and now it's great. Problem is the update isn't available to UK so I I stalled the US version which seems fine. But I feel for anyone who's not tech savvy -- this really is shambolic service for a product this expensive.

Great surround/spacious/dimensional sound. Easy to setup. Volume is great for the size of product. I have not had any problems with the wireless sub or satellites disconnecting. I have not used the bluetooth yet but I have used wireless, HDMI and optical and they worked as expected and in fact I am surprised by the wireless connection to the tv. Only improvement I can suggest but the ability to turn down the subwoofer even more for late night viewing.

Ok so any of the issues that caused anyone to leave a less than positive review of this soundbar have been cleared up with the latest firmware update (my firmware update came in the box!) Any other issues were clearly user error. It works correctly EVERYTIME but does require proper set up INCLUDING the order you literally plug the units in to the outlets. As for latency...None here with any source. Shop around because prices are all over the board.

I want to start with a note my system came with an USB stick in the box that had update on it, so I never experienced the loss of pairing issue others have. The sound bar absolutely blow all the previous sound bars i have ever had away. Clear, crisp, positional sound is achieved with little effort from me. once i had it connected and went through some setting changes on my XBOX One X I was watching movies in Dolby Atmos and I was blown away.

I was quite impressed with this when i bought it but then things started to go wrong ! Although it was connected with a HDMI cable it lost the connection, changed the HDMI cable and it worked for a while then it lost connection again. After trying several cables and even getting one to reconnect i tried it via BT which was working fine until the unit started cutting out and turning up and down and not responding to the remote ! Not happy!

This is the second sound bar I've owned from Samsung, outstanding sound quality and brilliant compatibility with other devices. I was concerned about syncing issues when I bought it last year as mentioned in other reviews, but they did a firmware update that solves them all. So no problems at all, I even disconnect my rear speakers alot due to space in my house and even then they are sync instantly. So just get the latest firmware!

Purchased this sound bar several months ago along with the Samsung q90R 75'' TV. Having ongoing issues with rear surround speakers and had to send them in for repair. They still don't work properly. You have to hold them up to your ear to hear them. Also LIP SYN issues are terrible. It needs to be adjusted daily and changed for each channel. I and family will no longer watch this TV because of the sound and constant lip syn issues.

I bought this sound bar 3 weeks ago and the Sound quality is second to none, one the other hand it constantly disconnects from the t.v and then the sound flickers, I have to turn the sound bar on and off for it to reconnect, from what I have read this a common problem and it needs to be addressed and fixed then it would definitely be a 5 star product as for the price not worth the money spent until it has been rectified

I have only had this system set up for a few days. Not the flexibility odf settings I previously had from a wired entertainment system with amplifier. I can't hear anything from the rear speakers despite them displaying that they are connected. Can see I will have to reset or look into this issue. Soundbar and subwoofer are fine but I need to tinker more I think. I do like the wifi layout without audio wires though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] No doubt about it, this sound bar system does Atmos and DTS-X proper. Now fix the dependency between the firmware version reflected on the product support page AND SmartThings. They are not equal. =/= Also work on improving on the wireless 'linking' between the speaker components. There are issues there. And stop with the robotic social media, cookie-cut responses. Not valuable. Be more human and prosper !

I brought the Q70 and Q90 Soundbar with speakers, best soundbar and system i've owned. Amazing!! I have heard of reviews stating the connections drop out, i have had mine for two weeks, i haven't had it disconnect once yet, no issues so far. I will keep an eye on it, but seems fine. On another note i've had soundbars from other top brands and to date this is the best set up for sound quality so far, lows, highs, mid's and base is great and fully customised as you wish. When i watched my first film i had the base up full as i am used to the base always being low, it nearly brought my wall down, it was great as i love the shake of the base thump. For normal music through Apps on the Television via the soundbar amazing and the same. 100% worth the money if you love music and sound quality, with the right set up will beat the cinema very time. Keep them coming Samsung great job.

Just bought this item and set it all up, expecting everything to run perfect, how wrong I was. Woofer and back speakers not connecting straight away, had to look on internet and found that there is a certain way to plug everything in to make them work. Worked brilliant until I turned them off. Having to go through unplugging and reconnecting again. Come on Samsung sort this out. You should know better.

Great audio system, painless to set up with all wireless audio components... and still getting used to it, but loving it so far. Reassuring solid with quality surround and awesome bass. A Samsung deal at the time for 50% cashback when purchased with a qualifying TV swung me to a Samsung soundbar solution, otherwise I may have gone for something significantly lower quality, simply for the pricepoint.

To finish off a renovation including a theatre/lounge room I purchased a Q90R sound bar to compliment the 75” Q80R TV. Set up was easy and it has awesome sound. Ok - I’m not a sound freak however I can’t say a bad word about this system. I’ve read most of the comments which I must say made me hesitate however I love it. This will be a great entertainer for us for many years to come! Thanks.

I bought this sound bar over a year ago and we absolutely love it. Rich sound and Deep bass give this sound bar a great rating for us. Everyone that comes to our house and hears it, are blown away. The ones that gave this sound bar anything less than a 4 should go back to read there manual because they do not have something hooked up right. Could not ask for a better sound bar.

So annoying because when the soundbar works it is awesome. But, I'm on my second unit but both have the same fault, each time you switch them off they then lose the connection to the rear speakers and sub. Reading through Samsung sites elsewhere in the world, and on AV forums site, this seems to be a global problem. It looks like the wireless connection fails on some units.

This purchase was to replace a HW-K950 unfortunately damaged whilst in transit from being repaired. Samsung are the only real contender for true 7.1.4 in a soundbar at present. All negative reviews were down to disconnection of speakers, but this has now been addressed with software updates. So far so good and much improvement in soundstage and midrange over the HW-K950.

Received the bar yesterday with a new Samsung Q90 TV. Set up was frustrating for about an hour, due to the manyconnection options (bluetooth, HDMI, wifi) but no clear guidance or recommendations as to which to choose. Couldn't get bluetooth pairing or HDMI to work, but eventually got wifi working. The remote speakers and subwoofer also took several attempts before they synched up, but once they did, they have remained stable so far (touch wood, given earlier reviews...). Sound is pretty much as I expected - really great for movies and TV (clear and crisp with plenty of bass grunt), but a little lacking in midrange warmth for serious music listening or watching music concerts. I had wondered whether this soundbar might be good enough to serve for all my audio-visual requirements, but no, I shall still be keeping a dedicated hifi system. And I may still hook it up to the TV for watching televised music concerts too.

From day one I have had connection problems. First it was ARC connection not working. The bar was connected to a Samsung QLED TV so you would think it would work. The other problem is that the subwoofer and rear speakers would not always connect. At present the subwoofer will not connect even though the blue light is steady. When the system works it’s awesome

I bought this quite a while ago and was amazed by its sound. However, it has been now made even better thanks to the latest firmware update that gives it eARC support. Now I can have everything plugged into my TV and have proper Dolby Atmos and DTS:X through the soundbar without needing to plug it in directly. The sound is still great after the update.

No post on this site provides any updates or fixes, only the usual promotional language about how great the stuff is and to contact a the service center. Don’t buy it - you will be disappointed and frustrated!

Very happy with the sound. My only gripe is the inability of Samsung to include wall mounting brackets that dont sag. Given the price of this unit, this is unacceptable. Surely they could design a wall mount that addresses this problem, totally ruins the look to have it dropping under the tv. Get better with the smaller details please Samsung.

It's sad when there is just about more 1 star reviews than 5 stars. I'm not gonna go into the problems I'm having because it's the same as everyone else! Weak and pointless rear speakers that cut out and crackle all the time. I have never had so much trouble with something ever.. They should recall all of these and refund everyone's money.

Moving to minimalistic setup from a full blown definitive & marantz 5.1 setup, i was not sure if soundbar would really impress me. Tested the flagship models from Sony and Naka but it was this that sounded the best. The firmware update is a hassle but so worth it. Please remember to power cycle the device after you upgrade. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] great soundbar and rear speakers that sound incredible. but for the price the subwoofer could have been at least 200 watts so that it can keep up with the system and/or have the capability to ad another sunwoofer. there is a 200 watt subwoofer sold seperately but it’s for older soundbars that dont even have the power like this soundbar has.

Constantly Disconnects! I bought it 4 weeks ago and it never worked as it should since then. This soundbar sounds Great when working. BUT it constantly disconnects from the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers This is a systematic flaw and must be addressed and fixed regarding the products price and being a flagship model. Samsung fix it!

like the sound and look of the system, however, it is really hard to find out how to connect to the wifi, and bluetooth functions. i still haven't been able to figure out if i updated correctly. after you update software, it should give a message saying updated successfully. for the price, all of this should be crystal clear.

Two months ago I bought the soundbar. At first I had trouble connecting the speakers. I read to many others. And then there are the sound quality issues. This sound bar is really amazing when everything works well. But some issues having had the sound bar for 2 weeks. 1. Bolts to fit the rear speakers to any stand or wall bracket are not provided. no issue you would think but they are NOT standard thread size, eg you cant got to B+Q and get 2. 6 emails to Samsung and I still don't have the thread size, and my speakers are sat on my floor !!! 2. I am running SkyQ through my sound bar to my brand new Q90 75" TV. but we cannot switch Sky Q on and the pass through just doesn't seem to work including sound from netflix app on the TV. I am really disappointed with paying SOOOOO much for the highest end TV and Sound Bar I could, yet lack of some basics have really dampened my purchase. The Sky Q issues is leading my wife to asking me to get rid of both the TV and sound bar !! But let me put it straight - when you watch an Atmos movie which is 4K - on Netflix and everything works - its brilliant sound!

I bought the soundbar together with a Q90 65 inch. The performance for movies is really good. However, if you are looking for an immersive sound while playing music with it (e.g. Spotify) the rear speaker are really weak. I hope Samsung will improve the software functionalities and introduce a more advanced set-up function.

Purchased this Soundbar about 3 weeks ago and after paying for it I saw the poor reviews of the wireless sub and rear speakers losing connectivity once turning the system off. I was skepictical but once setup i have not had this issue, must have been a bad batch going around. As far as sound quality it is second to none! cranked right upto 100 volume (max) it doesnt distort and is super crisp and clear. I dare not to say it would be the best soundbar 7.1.4 system on the market! Setup through HDMI (Arc) on my old 2016 75" samsung TV it works a treat and can use my TV remote to control the volume. I have found the front bar is so powerful that sometimes its hard to hear the rear speakers but you can put a setting on maybe (adaptive) to make them louder. Also you can turn the rear speakers up and turn down the fronts and it make it closer to even. In conclusion this system is the bees nees it has turned my TV room into a full surround theater room 10/10.

Got the Q90r last month. Till now i have lost counts on ID resetting the sub and woofer. Even Wifi connection got disconnected so many times that i have to re-add the device back on my phone almost weekly. i am currently using thes latest 1008 framework and confirmed that the lost connection problem still persist.

As others said its bugged from the box, the sub and the rears will lose connection it needs to be patch to work properly you must update the sound bar and the speakers *NOT* just the soundbar the sub and the rears* follow the guide online Samsung? how could you release such great product with huge bug like this

Very happy with my new soundbar. No issues at all with drop out as per other reviews. I installed the software update straight away and have had no problems at all with connections. I have moved from a separated system and the sound with this is on par, which is very impressive. Dolby Atmos sounds awesome.

My rear speakers and sub had connection issues, after seeing a response from samsung on another review, I used the smart things app (preloaded on my S9) and followed directions to download the firmware on the soundbar. Problem Solved... i no longer have connection issues with the rear speakers or the sub.

I bought this soundbar 5 days ago, the sound is really good if you have an ATMOS input. However, I'm really frustrated with the rear surround speakers which doesn't work when you turn on the TV the next day. I always need to power cycle (turn on/off) the mains supply to the surround for it to work again.

rear speakers provided no sound after turning off. found this to be a common problem. tried the fix with the firmware update, but the wifi kept dropping out. tried to do the firmware update via usb and nothing happen. returned the piece of garbage. the day after i bought it. bought a lg soundbar instead.

I purchased this system 6 months ago. I'll start off by saying the sound quality is great. HOWEVER, the rear speakers cut in and out constantly. It takes away from the experience. It has the latest firmware and the wireless components aren't far away from the soundbar or each other. I wished it worked.

I read a lot of reviews about this sound bar and almost didn't buy it based upon some of them. Instead I took the plunge and now I've spent some time with it, I seriously think it's great. I've been around quality sound gear for a long time and understand one of the biggest keys to getting a great sound out of any system is understanding your (audio) sources. Making sure they are outputting what you think they are. This is a pretty smart bit of kit, it does have a few flaws that hiccup, but once you get the right the whole input train happening is really sounds the business. And like every bit of equipment I have ever owned, is has it's quirks. For example, turn the rears off if you're not using the system. Then, when you fire it up again, turn on the rears on only after you the main system has started - I think you'll get a more predictable system. I still have more to learn about this system but I can guarantee that for the price, this thing is a wonderful bang-for-buck system.

Set the soundbar up with no problems. Tested with Dolby Atmos and the audio is brilliant. Had no issues so far with the disconnections that other people have mentioned. If i had to give a negative id say its a little on the bulky side, a fair bit bigger than what it looks like on the pictures.

Got it connected to the Q90R TV. The sound has been amazing! Havent had any issues with disconnection at all, updated with the latest firmware anyway. Just waiting for the eARC firmware updates for both the TV and Soundbar. Wouldve been nice to include BluRay/USB with ATMOS demos at this price.

I received this just the other day. It was meant to come with the TV but didn't. Simple set up. With the free DVD 'Incredibles 2' the surround sound is truly unbelievable. The sub-woofer is amazing. So far thrilled to bits - (I got the QE75Q90RATXXU too) it's better than being at the cinema!
