How to connect Galaxy Buds to a smartphone

Galaxy Buds are true wireless earbuds that allows you to hear every type of sound from your phone, such as music, audio files, notifications etc., easily and wirelessly. You can connect Galaxy Buds to your smartphone to start enjoying this useful device right away.

Galaxy Buds are supported by Android™ devices and some models such as Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live are also supported by iOS™ if your iPhone is 7 or later. To use them, you must pair the Buds with your device. Once your Galaxy Buds / Galaxy Buds+ / Galaxy Buds 2 / Galaxy Buds Live / Galaxy Buds Pro have been set up and paired, all you need to do is open the charging case and your devices will automatically connect.

Please note: If your Galaxy Buds do not pair within three minutes after the charging case has been opened, they will stop actively pairing. Close and then reopen the case to begin pairing again.

With a Samsung smartphone:

To connect your Galaxy Buds with your Samsung smartphone you must download the SmartThings app and the Wearable app, then follow these steps: 

1 Put the Galaxy Buds in their case and close and reopen it.
2 Tap the “Connect” option from the pop-up window.

Now your Galaxy Buds are paired with your smartphone. Once your Galaxy Buds have been connected, they will automatically try and connect to your device every time you open the charging case while the earbuds are inside.

 

With a non-Samsung Android™ smartphone:

To connect your Galaxy Buds to a non-Samsung Android™ smartphone, you must download the Galaxy Wearable app from Google™ Play Store and follow these steps:

1 Put the Galaxy Buds in their charging case and close and reopen it. The Buds will go into pairing mode.
2 Open the Galaxy Wearable app and search for the Buds.
3 Follow the on-screen instructions and install Galaxy Buds Manager.
4 Now, your Galaxy Buds are paired with your non-Samsung Android™ smartphone.

With an iOS™ device:

1 Put the Galaxy Buds in their charging case and close and reopen it. The Buds will go into pairing mode.
2 Go to device settings in your iOS™ device.
3 Tap “Bluetooth” and make sure that the function is on.
4 The Buds will be in the “Other devices” section. Tap on them to connect the Buds to your iOS™ device.

You can also pair your Galaxy Buds to a TV or PC manually: 

1 Put your Galaxy Buds in your ear.
2 Tap and hold both earbuds' touchpads. The earbuds will go into pairing mode and you will hear a sound.
3 Go to the Bluetooth settings of your device and search for the Galaxy Buds.

Please note: Bluetooth will need to be turned on your non-Android™ device to pair. The location of the Bluetooth settings and the steps to pair a new device will differ depending on your device. Please refer to your device instructions for more details.

Enter the Galaxy Buds settings to set the earbuds as you wish:

Step 1. Open Galaxy Wearable and click the menu icon.

Step 2. Select the Galaxy Buds from the list of devices.

Step 3. Tap “Earbuds settings”.

In the Earbuds settings screen, you can set up several aspects of your Buds as you wish:

  • Equaliser: Choose your equaliser mode between “Bass boost”, “Soft”, “Dynamic”, “Clear” and “Treble boost”.
  • Read notifications aloud: Turn on this feature to hear notifications from your phone on your earbuds.
  • Seamless earbud connection: Switch quickly to nearby devices without disconnecting your earbuds or turning on pairing mode.
  • In-ear detection: Turn on this feature to play calls through your earbuds when they are in your ears and through your phone when they are not.
  • Earbud fit test: You can check your earbud fit to get the most out of your Buds. Just put your earbuds in and tap “Start”.
  • Use ambient sound during calls: Turn on this feature to hear your own voice clearly when you are on the phone.
  • Labs: Here you can choose between “Double tap earbud edge” and “Gaming mode”.

You can control all your music from your Galaxy Buds thanks to the “Touch control” feature. If you turn on this feature, you can use your fingers to manage your music and calls by just touching your earbuds. This is what you can do using your Buds touchpad.

Listening to music:

  • Tap: Play or pause track.
  • Double tap: Play next track.
  • Triple tap: Play previous track.
  • Touch and hold: You can set a default touch option for each earbud including “Bixby” and “Volume down and up”.

 

During a call:

  • Double tap: Answer call or end call.
  • Touch and hold: Decline call.
