How to Manage App Notifications on Samsung Galaxy Phones and Tablets
You can control app notifications on your Samsung Galaxy device by enabling or disabling alerts, customizing sounds and vibrations, and using advanced features like snooze, flash notifications, and notification history. Follow these steps to optimize your notification experience.
1. Accessing and Viewing Notifications
To check your notifications, swipe down from the top of your screen. This will display all recent alerts below the Quick settings panel. Tap the down arrow next to a notification to view its full content and take actions like replying to messages.

2. Customizing Notification Settings

- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Notification panel.
- Tap Notification settings at the bottom of the panel.
- Select an app from the list to adjust its notification preferences.
- Toggle the switch to enable or disable notifications for the app.
- Customize additional settings like sounds, vibrations, and priority levels.
3. Viewing Recent Notifications
To see which apps have recently sent notifications, follow these steps:
- Open the Notification panel by swiping down from the top of your screen.
- Tap Notification settings at the bottom of the panel.
- Select See all notifications to view a list of recent alerts.
4. Managing App Icon Badges
App icon badges are small indicators that show when a new notification has been received. You can enable or disable these badges for individual apps.
- Open the Notification panel and tap Notification settings.
- Select an app from the list.
- Toggle the switch for App icon badge to enable or disable the feature.
5. Hiding Notifications from the Status Bar
If your status bar is cluttered with notifications, you can choose to hide them or limit the number displayed.
- Open the Notification panel and tap Notification settings.
- Select Hide notifications to choose which apps' alerts are hidden from the status bar.
6. Enabling Flash Notifications
To ensure you don't miss important alerts, enable flash notifications, which cause your device to flash when a notification is received.
- Open the Notification panel and tap Notification settings.
- Select Advanced settings.
- Toggle the switch for Flash notifications to enable the feature.
7. Using the Snooze Feature
The snooze feature allows you to temporarily silence notifications and save them for later. Note that this feature may not be available on all software versions.
- Open the Notification panel and tap Notification settings.
- Select Snooze notifications to configure the feature.
- Choose the duration for which notifications will be snoozed.
8. Checking Notification History
If you accidentally close a notification, you can view your recent alerts using the Notification history feature.
- Open the Notification panel and tap Notification settings.
- Select Notification history to view missed alerts.
