Frequently asked questions

How does this differ from the existing Smart Switch data transfer?

In the past, starting a transfer required installing the Smart Switch app on the iPhone. However, with Galaxy devices on Android 17+ (One UI 9.0 or later) and iPhones on iOS 26.6+, you can initiate the wireless transfer instantly by scanning the QR code on the Galaxy screen with your camera. This method also supports a broader range of data types.

Can I restore WhatsApp Data?

Yes, you can. After the wireless Smart Switch transfer is complete, you can restore WhatsApp data separately via a wired connection. It is also possible to use the backup and restore feature built directly into the WhatsApp app.

* LINE app data transfer is only supported on Galaxy devices released in Japan with a local carrier SIM card.

What happens if the wireless transfer fails midway?

If the wireless transfer fails, the process will stop. When you restart Smart Switch, you will be guided back to the wireless connection screen. Please try again from the beginning.

Can I transfer large amounts of data stored in iCloud using Smart Switch?

Yes, iCloud data can also be transferred through Smart Switch.

* Transferable iCloud data: Contacts, Calendar (+Reminders), Notes, Images, Videos, Documents.

Is there any data that cannot be transferred from an iPhone to a Galaxy?

For certain data (WhatsApp data, Reminders, registered Bluetooth devices, blocked contacts, and browser bookmarks), you can proceed with the data transfer by selecting the transfer option on the ‘conversation and settings’ tip card that appears after completing the wireless transfer. This can be done by connecting via wired (cable) connection.

* The functions, menu names, and screen layouts described above may vary depending on the device model and software version.
