What is Smart Select and How to Use It With the S Pen

Smart select lets you select, clip and collect whatever grabs your interest so you can easily share it with your friends.Whatever the shape and size of the content, Smart Select it with your S Pen to capture it all in one quick move. Capture long pages that require scrolling as one image and write notes over the saved content. You can also easily create GIFs from videos.

Step 1. Open up your Air Command menu by either:

• Taking out your S Pen (and the menu should automatically slide out).
• Tapping on the Air Command menu icon if you are currently holding your S Pen.
• Hovering the S Pen over your screen and pressing the Pen Button

Step 2. Tap on the Smart Select icon.

Step 3. Choose the type of selection tool you would like to use (e.g. Rectangle, Lasso, Oval, etc.).

Step 4. After choosing a selection tool, outline the area you wish to screenshot.

Step 5. You can choose to save the highlighted area by tapping on the Save icon, or continue to edit it by tapping on the Draw icon.

Step 1. Open up your Air Command menu  

Step 2. Tap on the Smart Select icon.

Step 3. Tap on the Animation icon.

Step 4.  A rectangle will appear on your screen. Position the rectangle over the video that you would like to create a GIF from. You may drag the corners of the rectangle to crop the video to an appropriate size.

Step 5. You also have the option of creating either a High or Standard quality GIF.

Step 6. Once you have set the size and quality of the GIF, play the video and tap Record at the part you would like to make a GIF from.

Step 7. Tap Stop once you have finished recording. You can create GIFs that are up to 15 seconds long.

Step 8. You can choose to Draw on, Share, or Save the GIF by tapping on the respective icons.
