Replaced it with an old version, immediately getting 2X data transfer speed. The system loaded very quickly, and the whole system transfer was easy. Samsung provides tools, data migration applications with an easy-to-follow manual, and a monitoring application “Magician” on their website. The real-world feel is much closure to the 990 PRO data specification. It is stable, easy-to-use & install, and fast SSD in the market. Instead of waiting for several minutes, just taking several seconds, it is a game changer in the data storage solution.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced a 3 year old 512GB drive as my boot drive in my gaming desktop and the speed on this is crazy fast. First benchmark gave me almost 7400 MB/s reads! Writes were at nearly 6900 MB/s! I could tell immediately my rig booted up faster. Game loads were also incredibly fast. The included heatsink with LED is pleasing to look at and is actually visible from my motherboard. The heatsink will be much better than the motherboard shield. I have other Samsung SSDs for storage as well and the magician software helps me track on the health of the drives. Samsung never disappoints on storage devices!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this SSD to install in a PS5. The 990 Pro with heatsink worked perfectly. It was a fairly easy install once the cover gets removed. It fits very well with the heatsink attached to it. Once installed, the PS5 recognized it and formatted it. It now shows the full 1TB available. Now I can finally update my games. Performance: It showed that the max speed was over 6500MB. The loading times are no different than the built in storage. The games run smoothly as normal. I really recommend this upgrade for any PS5 since the built-in storage only gives you about 660GB of usable storage.

Sometimes it's not worth it, but the Samsung 990 Pro was definitely worth it. I'm upgrading from a 980 Pro and the difference in load times is absolutely noticeable. Not to mention my 980 Pro was a 500gb and the 990 Pro is 1tb, so in addition to increasing speed, I doubled storage space. When I say this drive is fast, I mean it's FAST. I will definitely be purchasing the 2tb 990 Pro for my gaming console ASAP. Samsung is absolutely on top of the SSD game right now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently installed the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB with Heatsink in my Lenovo Legion, and the difference is night and day! The installation was seamless, and the drive fit perfectly. This SSD is incredibly fast. Boot times have significantly decreased, and games load almost instantly. I’m seeing read/write speeds close to the advertised 7,450/6,900 MB/s which can be seen in the benchmark screenshot. The built-in heatsink does a great job of keeping temperatures under control, even under heavy workloads. No throttling or overheating issues so far, even during extended gaming sessions. Coming to the capacity, at 4TB, I no longer have to worry about storage space. I can keep all my games, and media in one place without juggling external drives. I used Samsung Magician to clone my old drive onto a new Samsung 990 Pro SSD, and the process was incredibly smooth. The software’s cloning tool made it simple to create a bootable copy without any hassle. The interface is user-friendly, with clear instructions that even beginners can follow.

It now runs 3x faster than it did before, and doesn't overheat either! It's amazing for gaming. I can't even believe it's even the same laptop honestly. It was also very easy to set up. I cloned over my HDD, plugged it in and it was ready to go! The Samsung Magician app is not required, but it makes it very easy to see your SSD's health and stats. I really wish I bought more than one lol I love it so much. I would love to upgrade more PC parts from Samsung in the future!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung is still the top of the heap for fastest nvme storage and this thing is ripping fast. Sequential read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 6,900 MB/s over a PCIe 4.0 slot. Installing windows took less than 10 minutes, games are loading noticeably faster than before and file transfers are maxing out my mechanical hard drives. The Samsung Magician software is pretty nice too. It gives you a dashboard for monitoring health, optimizing performance, scheduling backups and such. Really happy so far with this drive and well worth the purchase.

It's snappier, everything instantly opens and closes and running games and designing software loads extremely faster! I didn't think going from 980p to 990p would make a difference but it really does. The power saving and cooling features have improved dramatically from its predecessor so much so that I have to get one for my gaming console without a doubt! This has kicked up or refresh rate but dramatic speeds.. games are loading faster and smoother,the computer boot up was lightening speed..no waiting like we had been experiencing. The video processing speed was much better than our computer had previously had as was file transfers! I can't say enough good things about the Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 1TB! That was till I started using my computer for normal activity and saw a difference without having to run benchmarks and just look at the numbers. PlayStation has a list of requirements for an SSD to be capable of handling PS5 games and the 990 Pro easily surpassed all of them. Read speeds were excellent and far beyond what was recommended and I didn’t suffer any problems such as lag or errors when using this SSD. I can easily recommend this SSD for gaming or even in computers. I transferred several games from my internal drive to the Samsung and even though they were several hundred gigs the transfer went through within a couple of minutes which far exceeded my expectations.

The first thing I noticed was the weight. The heatsink is dense and heavy. It dissipates the heat extremely well. The performance is great although I am not able to run at full capacity until my new PCIe 4 computer is finished. I used Samsung's Magician software to control and run the performance numbers. I used the data migration function of the Magician software and it was seamless. The led features of the heatsink make this a gamer's dream to finish off the perfect build.

I have had all the previous ones and they're still rocking like the champs they are. I decided to add it to my gaming rig so I upgrade its other components to match up to the 990 Pro's prowess. If you want to take full advantage of its 'magic', make sure that you install a heatsink. Otherwise the label heat spreader it comes with should be well enough for non-heavy gaming/video editing. I have a few PC's with a 980, 970, and an 860 and I have to point out that even though the 990 is extremely faster than its predecessors, it is more power efficient. And that, in my book, is innovation at its best! Blazing speed, better cooling technology, power efficiency, & consistent R/W is all us techies crave for. Other SSD's on the market just can't compete with Samsung's 990 Pro. I'm extremely happy with mine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I originally had the 990 Pro without the heatsink and required a third party one and it has worked great on my PC but I prefer when SSD's can be purchased with one because they tend to work a lot better. The heatsink has a nice visual style with an RGB light. It's Thermal Guard design has excellent thermal management. It's optimized for graphically demanding games and the newer controller gives us the highest speed available, faster loading times, great reliability and good power efficiency. Testing the Read\Write speeds do come to the noted 7450\6900 mb/s, respectively. And it is a huge difference from the 980 Pro which is still a great SSD and I still own some and continue to buy them for any less demanding devices. I use my PC for gaming, graphic designing, and editing videos and images and I always want the best components available. I highly recommend the 990 Pro w/Heatsink. Innovation at its best!

Much to my surprise, the Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations in every way. I actually started to run out of memory on my console due to the next generation games that requires enormous amount of available hard drive space. The Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD was easy to install and I was online gaming again within 5 minutes. I have actually moved 90% of saved data from the console to the Samsung Samsung 990 PRO. It was seamless and I haven’t notice any degradation to the performance while playing. I would get the 2TB version if it was available but the 1TB is offer me much needed additional capacity without having to delete game data to save hard-drive space. It’s a must have if you’re looking to expand your memory to the fullest.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung 990 Pro 1Tb SSD with Heatsink is a devastatingly fast SSD that promises to continue to stay fast even for prolonged usage due to the Heatsink integration. Heatsink keeps the SSD from overheating similar to how a radiator keeps a car engine from overheating. I haven't used it enough to definitively know if heatsink works but I would assume that it does. I ran some read/write tests and though it did not hit the 7,000 MBs/s, the read was 1,818 MBs/s and the write was 2,248 MBs/s. There are probably other factors that come into play. It is definitely faster than my Kingston SSD which managed 1,267 MBs/s read & 544 MBs/s write. You can see the measurement benchmarks in one of the photos attached. The SSD itself has a nice form factor with an LED light that illuminates which adds to the light show (see picture). Overall, this is a solid drive and further proof as to why Samsung is the world leader in SSDs.

I got it back in December 2024 and it hasn't given me a single issue. I got it with the Heatsink because I already knew it was going to see a lot of use, I play frequently and have a lot of games. Currently sitting at over 80% capacity used and it still performs efficiently. It doesn't throttle or slow down performance, even on long play sessions. Speed and performance have been consistently excellent. On initial setup, the speed test showed just under 6,600MB/s speeds for my PS5. I've been playing games as demanding as cyberpunk or elden ring and they all play as if they were installed internally, no issues whatsoever.

I really needed more space on my laptop and this was a perfect upgrade. Installation was simple since this was my first M.2 NVMe ssd, and the use of Samsung Magician software you can use for cloning the drive is great. I could tell that the SSD that came with the laptop vs the 990 pro, once I booted up windows I could tell a difference. I usually have multiple browsers open or gaming on my laptop and with this new gen 4 drive really made things feel really quick. This Samsung 990 Pro was so amazing that I might actually buy the 2TB version for my second slot on my laptop!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high expectations going into this review, as I had already used and still do the 980 Pro version of the Samsung Pro line. The heatsink on this drive makes for a nice visual statement and not only does it looks great, it also keeps the drive cooler than with out the heatsink. I was able to install and test all of my games on my PC and had zero issues. Performance with load times is insanely quick, my previous games would take a few seconds to load nothing to complain about, but it was a night and day difference with the 990 Pro, and some games were near instant load. Which makes for a better gaming experience when trying to switch and play another AAA title that takes up massive amounts of storage on your drive. I tested using my file sharing as well, and have no complaints there, this thing is fast. Moving medium to large size files was a breeze. Sometimes files would finish before I got a change to see the speed rate. Over all I am very happy with the performance of the Samsung 990 Pro, as it superseded my 980 Pro in almost everyday possible including the cooling. The aesthetics and led allow to a nice touch of customization in your PC case. I would highly recommend this drive to any games and high performance enthusiast that needs the best and faster NVME out there.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally got my hands on the Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe and I am super impressed! I have always been a huge fan of Samsung SSDs and use them almost exclusively in all my computers/laptops. So the first order of business was popping it in my external enclosure and getting an idea of the speed and testing it out, I loved what I saw so much I immediately cloned my main SSD in my new PCIe 4.0 capable laptop and swapped those drives out! As with any M.2 drive the install was super easy and is usually just popping it into the slot and screwing it down. As for setup, I used a cloner to clone the OS and main drive to the 990 Pro. The laptop was already fast before the Samsung 990 Pro but it's smoking fast now, probably the fastest laptop I have had to date! The Samsung 990 Pro specs out as follows from the manufacturer: Up to 1400K/1550K IOPS Sequential read/write speeds up to 7450/6900 MB/s (near the max performance of PCIe 4.0) So what did I see so far? Well boot time is superb at ~10 seconds from power on to fingerprint and maybe 2 seconds from fingerprint to usable desktop! CrystalDiskMark testing comes in as follows: Sequential read/write speeds - 6963/4175 MB/s Random read/write speeds - 3260/2304 MB/s 796K/562K IOPS This is definitely a fast SSD offering from Samsung and I highly suggest getting out there and grabbing one for laptop/desktop/or even external use. For me I am using this as my primary drive in the laptop going forward as that's where the video editing happens!

My one major downside is drive health. In performance mode, the drive seems to degrade its health rapidly. This may have to do with improper nvme drivers and/or the full performance mode. Hopefully, we see updates to fix the health issues. I recommend to stay in the “standard mode” until a fix is implemented. Otherwise, I’m thoroughly impressed! I was extremely impressed because I use a lot of photo editing software to display some of my creations I make by hand, and this has been able to have the application load without missing a beat. My prebuilt PC had an SSD, but it was ridiculously small with 128gb and was intended only for the operating system but still had some programs installed on it. I would run out of space frequently and the Samsung 990 Pro w/Heatsink worked well with plenty of space for me to use. Integrate the 990 Pro with the Samsung Magician software and you have a complete solution. I was hesitant to buy at first with the initial reports of quick degradation of life expectancy. Samsung responded quickly, finding the cause was the firmware. My drive came with the latest firmware and so far so good. I had hoped it would fit in my new top end 2023 laptop. However the heatsink is substantial and it would not physically fit. Note; very few laptops can accommodate a SSD NVMe with heatsink, just too much real estate. I put the drive in one of my desktops, running an I7 with 64 Gb of memory. The drive is a performer!

It took us one screw driver and about 2 minutes to install the memory drive into the memory expansion slot. After booting up, the system prompted us to format the stick and it took about 30 seconds. Games transferred quickly to the SSD memory and we had more room on the console to run our favorite games. I’m a big fan of the quality construction and the blazing speeds. The pre installed heat sink was a plus and we didn’t have to put any cooling jelly. I highly recommend the 990 PRO to any gamers out there!

The speeds are around 7000Mbps read and write if installed in a desktop or laptop that supports PCIe 4.0 x4. I first tested the drive in a external enclosure and then moved it over to my laptop and getting it installed and setup was no problem. No software comes in the box but you can get Samsung's Magician software from their website. That software is a must if you want to manage, monitor, or customize your drive. Make sure to keep your drive firmware updated too as those can often provide fixes for existing or newly discovered issues. This drive has been great so far and I'll continue to use it as my primary boot drive. Gaming load times have noticeably improved for me too!

Super vitesse et cryptage intégré, mais malheureusement il peux poser des soucis, certe reconnu par Windows, mais pour plusieur logiciel comme pour le partitionner, ou faire des sauvegardes du disque sont inexploitable, juste la sauvegarde Windows 7 intégré à Windows 11, peut le faire, à ma connaissance. Et encore, ensuite obligé de refaire toutes les clés bitlocker, de toutes les partitions du SSD. Mais sinon de très bonnes caractéristiques, et pour moi dans un NUC intel ultra 2, aucun soucis de chaleur même sur de la génération d'IA sur une heure. 7100 Mo/s en lecture et écriture 6900 Mo/s avec cryptage matériel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My current setup has a 970 drive from Samsung, but is only 1TB. So, when given the chance to get my hold on this 990 Pro 2TB I jumped at it! Install is easy as just about any other M.2 NVMe. Quick format later and you are ready to go! From checking the speeds, I am getting close to the speeds that are reported, which I am happy with. So far, I have done a bunch of tests and the drive is in good health and running well. In the near future, I will be migrating my intensive programs to the drive and will compare boot and load times with the 970 Samsung drive. Note: Anyone using this drive in a PC/Laptop, I HIGHLY recommend Samsung Magician. It is a piece of software from Samsung that allows you to keep track of your drive, run tests of the drive, and make sure the drive is healthy to keep your data safe!

Got it installed and configured and moved all of my PC vr games over to it and wow load speeds are so much quicker! At least 20 seconds. I would also get stuttering when loading certain games but this seems to have helped resolve almost all of that! I love the red heatsink as well. I also did a complete review video be sure to check it out.

The speed on this drive is really fast, I can pull start the computer to login screen in less than 10 sec and I can pull up video content edit and rewrite at very fast speeds. I have had no errors in any of the data . The heat sink that is preinstalled on this drive should keep it cool and make it last a longer time. When using this make sure to get full benefit of the speeds by installing on a 16x port.

Only complaints are that there is less support for the amd platfrom and the heatsink has an untoggleable red led which is a nuisance for me but may not matter to others. As far as thermals, this one comes with its own heatsink but id rather have one than not, its got a very strong style.

Samsung computer RAM and SSD hard drives are the only brand that I will use with all of my laptops. Having said that, the Samsung 990 Pro SSD will not physically fit in the 2 - Gen III M.2 SSD hard drive slots in the HP EliteBook 17G6 Mobile Workstation due to size constraints. I just tried last night, so I went with the 990 Pro (no heatsink) X 4TB in both M.2 slots with a 4TB EVO SSD drive in the SATA open bay.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Samsung 990 PRO for my PlayStation 5 for the past 2 weeks and it's been very good. Installation Installation was super easy. The 990 PRO comes with a heatsink already installed (!!). I just opened up the PS5 by sliding the backplate back, used a screwdriver to open up the panel that holds the SDD and popped the 990 PRO in. It was as simple as that and took a total of 2 minutes. Formatting Just boot up the PS5 and was prompted to format the SSD. This process took 30 seconds. Performance This thing is blazing fast, with 700mb/s read and write speeds, all my files transferred over quickly. I was able to run all my PS4 games without any issues or lag. Note that PS5 games cannot be run from the SSD due to PS5's restriction. Overall I'm super happy with the product. It was easy to install and it just worked. I would recommend the 990 PRO to all my gamer friends!

Purchased 2 1TB SSDs and installed in new systems in December 2022. Health of the SSDs on February 14, 2023 are 89% and 92%. Firmware update was recently released (not sure if it even works), but the rapid health decline is UNACCEPTABLE. I would avoid Samsung SSDs. Better and more affordable options are available like the SK Hynix Platinum P41.

Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 2TB Purchase for the speed which is okay, the first time setup write test is was the correct speed as stated but it was burst speed, the second test went back to real world speed, am happy with using external enclosure SSD case doing video editing on my computer The fastest external device I am using a TB4 cable and 40gb case, I know the speed are not what is on the box because it is not in computer, it is so much faster than my Samsung 980 PCIe NVMe SSD 1TB. I like it so much I am buying another one as a mirror backup, of course as an external device.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I got my first SSD (Samsung 860 EVO), I was amazed of the speed from a disk drive to SSD upon Windows boot up and in game boot ups and loading screens. This new Samsung 990 Pro is blistering fast. This is my first NVMe M.2 SSD and it is quite an upgrade to my gaming PC. Samsung Data Migration made it easy for me to copy over from one SSD to another SSD. I had also done this for the disk drive to SSD with no problems. Love the software. The changes in speeds is astonishing. See pictures for Performance Benchmarks from Samsung Magician. I am starting to get into streaming, so I can't wait to get into content creation and edit my videos with this SSD as well. With the increase in resolutions of these videos, you almost need a fast NVMe to work on 4k/8k videos now a days. Samsung has done it again. I'm going to keep buying Samsung SSD's because they have been reliable thus far. I am extremely happy and excited to push the limits of this SSD.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 990 PRO 4tb w/ Heatsink in June 2024 and have been using it for over a month in Dell Alienware R16 running Win 11 (replacing / upgrading the 1tb stock drive). Learned about 3 significant issues online related to this drive: bad firmware, drive disappearing from Windows and Bios, and drive degradation issues - so first thing was to download the Magician software to update firmware and drivers. Despite that, I kept experiencing drive disappearance issues randomly but frequently during first few weeks. Recently changed setting to "Full Performance Mode" at all times to see if the disappearance issues would stop. This has been a disappointment. In addition, ran multiple Performance Benchmarks in Magician and never gotten close to the advertised read and write speeds up to 7450/6900 MB/s. Only getting about 6700/5700 MB/s in "Full Performance Mode" (a little higher using CrystalDiskMark but still falling short of the advertised speeds). So performance is yet another disappointment.

I use it as my boot drive and let me tell you that my pc starts up incredibly fast. If I have to access any files on that drive, there is absolutely no wait times. I can use multiple windows open and access them with no worries. I also love the fact that if you download the Samsung magician software, you update it to the latest firmware and even customize the led light on the drive as well. It also matches my pc colors with the red and black design on the drive. Very happy with it and I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone that is looking for a top tier nvme drive that is not only fast but reliable.

I love how fast it can read and write files to and from the hard drive. I can literally transfer a 150 GB game in maybe 2 mins if not less. I really like the product and am glad I got this one. I got the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB variant in 2024 and the speeds were super fast paired with my Asus ROG Strix G16 gaming unit. Read and write speeds were always consistent and the Samsung Magic app is a nice touch to check the drive's temps and keep it up-to-date with the latest firmware, very efficient piece of software. I have had no issues and failures with the drive over the past 2 years of purchasing it and it has moved between 2 devices so I would figure it is very reliable. My next investment is to get the 9100 Pro 8TB variant to store my huge catalogue of video content.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always had Samsung SSDs on my PC. The Samsung 990 Pro is an upgrade from my Samsung 870 QVO. The 990 Pro is 7 times faster than my 870 which is SATA and not NVMe. I play games a lot and this little guy has helped tremendously with loading my games faster and allowing smooth gameplay. The 990 fits perfectly in my PC and the hardest part of the installation was tightening the screw that holds it down. I have done some benchmark tests using Samsung Magician and the results are better than expected. The heatsink aspect of the 990 is a must because during higher demand the SSD does heat up but does not throttle down. I use photo editing software for school and don't have any problems with the applications loading or when in use. My old SSD struggled a bit when using those applications, so this has helped tremendously. The Samsung 990 Pro does help for everyday use like browsing the internet or writing emails. However, it would be better used for someone that uses high demand applications like gaming or photo/video editing. I would highly recommend the Samsung 990 Pro for anyone that is looking for an upgrade.
