How to set a Pattern, PIN or Password on your Lock screen

You can set up a screen lock type to help secure your Galaxy phone or tablet. Each time you turn on your device or wake up the screen, you’ll be asked to unlock your device, with your chosen pascode. Click one of the drop down menus below to learn how to set a pattern, pin or password on your Galaxy device.

Android OS Version 7.0 (Nougat) & 8.0 (Oreo)
1 Go into the Settings menu > Lock screen and security.

2 Tap Screen lock type.

3 Select the Screen lock type you wish to use.
Select the screen lock type.
4 As an example, Pattern lock type was created. Tap Continue repeat the step and then tap Confirm.

5 Select display options for your notifications on the lock screen. Once selected, tap Done to complete the process.

6 Your Lock screen has been successfully created.

1 Head into your Settings > Lock Screen
