Samsung presents its latest HVAC innovations and vision for the New World at its annual Climate Solutions Day event

The annual Climate Solutions Day 2021 took place online, with industry professionals and media learning about Samsung’s new products and solutions for the New World

21 January 2021, Amsterdam - For the fourth year running, Samsung Electronics Air Conditioning Europe B.V. (SEACE) has organized its annual Climate Solutions Day partner event with the central theme “Ready for the New World”. Throughout the event, the company brings together forward-thinking industry professionals and press, alongside new Samsung innovations and insights. On January 21 2021, the event was broadcasted from the Netherlands to audiences across Europe, giving guests the unique opportunity to join the event from their homes.

The virtual format allowed participants an in-depth experience of new solutions and technologies while also providing opportunities for a direct conversation with Samsung’s employees. The event hosted several speakers from Samsung, presenting new product innovations, the company’s vision for 2021 and hosting Q&A sessions, as well as guest speaker Pierluigi Collina, world’s most famous football referee.

“Despite the current circumstances in which a physical event is not possible, we remained committed to meet our valued partners this year. The virtual event Samsung hosted offered us the opportunity to show them and other industry professionals our latest innovations such as the DVM S2 and WindFree™ Pure 1.0. Although we all look forward to a time in which face to face contact is again a possibility, I am extremely happy with the event we hosted.” says Wim Vangeenberghe, President of Samsung Electronics Air Conditioning Europe. “Although life has changed drastically in 2020, we at Samsung remain relentlessly focused on redefining, innovating and enhancing indoor climate comfort while pushing the boundaries of technology, innovation and design. Together with our partners, we will shape the future and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead whether this is via online or offline collaborations.”

Moving forward in 2021 and what to look out for

Last year’s events forced Samsung to find new ways of interacting with its partners while at the same time strengthening the relationship. The personal and face to face way of doing business in an online environment resulted in new ways of working together. Samsung showed flexibility in helping, whether it was through financial support, sales or with technical issues.

Samsung has always been on the cutting edge of customer-oriented solutions, and its HVAC division is no exception. During the event, the company announced the launch of two of their latest innovations: the energy-efficient DVM S2 range for commercial applications and the WindFree™ Pure 1.0 for residential applications which enhances indoor air quality.

The 6th generation of DVM: the DVM S2

The new DVM S2 range - the company’s sixth generation of its Digital Variable Multi and the next generation of the DVM S platform - offers industry leading seasonal energy efficiency, AI innovations control capabilities to optimise climate conditions based on the diverse environments to increase efficiency without compromising on comfort, as well as enhanced installation and serviceability. All in a quieter unit through outstanding noise reduction. In addition, the new range makes it easier to select units based on the streamlined indoor line up. The DVM S2 emphasises Samsung’s contribution to the EU mission to be a carbon neutral economy by 2050, as stated in the EU Green Deal1, through relentlessly offering energy-efficient solutions. The new range will be available in Europe starting April 2021. Availability may differ per market.

Launch of the WindFree™ Pure 1.0

The new WindFree™ Pure 1.0 wall-mounted air conditioner is Samsung’s new residential innovation for enhanced Indoor Air Quality at home. It is equipped with a PM1.0 Filter for air purification, the unique WindFree™ Cooling technology, Freeze Wash functionality and smart control functionalities to offer optimal climate comfort as well as cleaner air in residential homes. The wall-mounted model is equipped with an electrostatic PM1.0 Filter, which works as an air purifier and can filter dust particles up to 0.3 μm / microns and sterilise certain types of bacteria2 using an electrostatic charger. Additionally, the indoor air quality can be continuously monitored via the SmartThings app3. Even when the unit is turned off, the dust sensor is able to register the current air quality in the room. A notification is sent when air pollution reaches the level ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’. Via the SmartThings app, the user can respond to the information by turning on the purify mode remotely.

Samsung’s vision for the New World

Throughout the event, guests followed various sessions in which Samsung showcased its vision for the New World, focusing on topics such as Indoor Air Quality, sustainability, connectivity and growth opportunities on the residential market.

With Europeans now spending about 90% of their time indoors4 indoor air quality has become even more crucial for the industry in 2021, with The World Health Organization stressing the importance and the topic becoming increasingly studied by scientists. During the event, Samsung demonstrated their new Air Purification Panels with PM1.0 Filter and how they purify air.

Together with Project Etopia, Samsung showed how their ClimateHub TDM Plus solutions works. With the European Green Deal aiming to reform the existing European Energy system into an efficient and integrated one, the transition from traditional heating to more sustainable heating solutions like Heat Pumps is emerging rapidly as a viable solution across Europe. These developments, alongside the use of advanced digital technology facilitating smart connectivity are the most efficient steps forward on the path to improving convenience while saving energy – both in the short and long term.

The event also hosted various in-depth presentations catering to HVAC consultants, giving them more insights into Samsung’s new DVM S2 range, the EHS TDM Plus solution and the DVM Pro 2.0 software.
