Top Load Washer is Vibrating
When spinning at high speed, Samsung washers are typically very still. However, there are a few very common things that can cause the washing machine to vibrate.
Washer Vibrates Briefly at the Beginning of the Cycle
While the unit is Weight Sensing, the tub will spin slowly back and forth and some vibration will occur. This is normal.
Washer Vibrates Excessively
If the washer is excessively vibrating, verify and perform the following:
- Verify the unit is level. This step may have been missed during installation, or even if the unit is not recently installed, it may have become unleveled.
- Verify the load is not unbalanced or overloaded. If the washer is overloaded or unbalanced, it may wobble, which at high spin speeds causes vibration.
- Verify the correct amount of High Efficiency detergent is being used. Using too much or non-HE detergent will cause residue to build up within the washer, which affects the performance of the technology the washer uses to reduce vibration. It is also likely to give an Excessive Suds Error if this happens.
Tip: If it is possible that the wrong type of detergent (or too much detergent) was used in the past, or if the unit has had Excessive Suds Errors in the past, then run an empty cycle with no additives (bleach, softener, or detergent) and see if suds still occur within the unit. If suds occur, then the washer has residue in it which may be causing the vibration. Continue to run empty cycles until the suds no longer occur in order to clear out this residue.
- Clean the inlet supply filters.
If after verifying and performing the steps above, the excessive vibration continues, then the washer will require service.
