Manage Apps on Your Smart TV

Enjoying an App on the Smart TV

Your Samsung TV offers access to many exciting apps and games. Whether you have The Frame, a QLED, or any other Samsung smart TV, it's easy to find the app you want and start enjoying more entertainment on your TV. Aside from installing or deleting apps, you can also set them to update automatically on your smart TV.

Install an App

To search for a specific app, select the Search icon on the top right.

One of the best parts of having a smart TV is all of its apps. You can download your favorite social media or TV network's app or find a new game, for instance.

To find apps to install, navigate to Apps and select the app you want. You'll see detailed information about the app. From here, select Install.

Open an App

Once you've downloaded the apps you want, it's time to enjoy them. There are two ways you can open an app. From the Home Screen, use the directional pad on the Samsung Smart Remote and select the desired app to launch.

Another way to open an app is to use the directional pad on the Samsung Smart Remote and navigate to and select APPS. From here, select the desired app.

Auto Update Apps

When you set your apps to auto update, you never have to worry about updating them manually.

Navigate to Apps and then select Settings on the top right. Next, navigate to Auto Update. Make sure it is selected to automatically update all of your apps whenever updates are available.

Lock and Unlock Apps

The default PIN is 0000. To change the PIN, navigate to Settings > General > System Manager > Change PIN.

When an app is locked, you will have to enter the TV's PIN every time you open the app - it's great for keeping certain apps private.

To lock or unlock an app, navigate to Apps and then select Settings on the top right. Select the app you want to lock or unlock, and select Lock/Unlock.

Remove an App

Recommended apps cannot be deleted.

You can remove apps you no longer want and free up memory space on your TV.

Navigate to Apps and then select Settings in the top right corner. Select the app you want to delete. Select Delete, and select again to confirm.

App Icons

The icons below appear within the selected app's icon, and indicate the following:

App is installed on a USB device icon

The app is installed on a USB device.

Install app icon

The app is installed.

Smart View supported app icon

The app supports Smart View.

Locked app icon

The app has a password.

App update needed icon

The app needs to be updated.
