Using Device Maintenance to Keep Your Galaxy Tab S3 Optimized

Device maintenance provides an overview of the status of your device's battery, storage, RAM, and device security. You can also automatically optimize your device's system resources.

Quick Optimization

The quick optimization feature improves device performance through the following actions:

  • Identifying apps that use excessive battery power and clearing unneeded items from the memory.
  • Deleting unnecessary files and closing apps running in the background.
  • Scanning for malware.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch OPTIMIZE NOW.

  4. Touch DONE.

Battery

View how battery power is used for device activities.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch Battery.

  4. The following options are available: 

    • Battery usage: View details of battery usage by item.
    • Power saving mode: Extend battery life by selecting a power saving mode. Choose OFF, MID, or MAX. Estimated remaining battery life for each mode is provided.
    • App power monitor: Put apps to sleep so they do not use battery power when not in use. Touch Save power to enable.
    • Unmonitored apps: Select apps to exclude from being put to sleep by the App power monitor.
    • More Options > Advanced settings: Configure advanced battery settings.

Storage

View the device memory and usage. Mount, unmount, or format an optional memory card (not included).

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch Storage.

  4. To free up storage space by deleting unnecessary data, such as cached, residual, and advertisement files, touch CLEAN NOW.

Memory

Check the amount of available memory. You can close background apps and reduce the amount of memory you are using to speed up your device.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch Memory.

  4. To free up as much RAM as possible, touch CLEAN NOW.

Device Security

Configure and monitor security settings for your device.

  1. Navigate to Apps > Settings.

  2. Touch Device maintenance.

  3. Touch Device security.

  4. To quickly scan for threats such as malware, touch SCAN DEVICE.
