Change Secure Lock Settings on Your Phone
If you are worried about someone getting their hands on your phone, you can heighten its security by using the Secure lock settings. From automatically locking your screen to completing an Auto Factory Reset, there are several ways you can safeguard your phone.
Note: Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.
Secure Lock Settings and Features
Important: Secure lock settings are only available when a screen lock is set.
From Settings, search for and select Secure lock settings. Enter your secure lock information. The following settings will be available:
Lock automatically: When the screen is turned off, it will lock after a set period of time.
Lock instantly with power Key: When you turn off the screen by pressing the Power key, the screen will be locked.
Note: If Smart Lock is in effect, the phone will stay unlocked.
Auto factory reset: The device will automatically reset to factory default settings after 15 incorrect attempts to unlock your device.
Lock network and security: While your device is locked, the network and security-related functions will also be locked. Wi-Fi and mobile data can't be turned off while your phone is locked. This will make it easier to locate and protect your device in case it is lost or stolen.
Show Lockdown option: Display a Power button option that turns off Smart Lock, biometrics unlock, and notifications on the Lock screen.
