How to Power On Your Phone in Safe Mode
If your phone is misbehaving, it's possible a third-party app (or apps) is crashing the party. Safe Mode lets you operate your phone without running any third-party apps. This allows you to easily remove any app that may be causing a conflict or software problem.
Starting Your Phone in Safe Mode
When you exit Safe Mode, some of your customization options (Wallpapers, Themes, Etc.) may be reset to default.
If you use the Fingerprint security feature on a device running Marshmallow (Android 6.X) the device will require your backup password to unlock after rebooting.
To run Safe Mode on your phone, follow these steps:
- Power off the phone.
- Power on the phone. The Galaxy logo displays.
- When the Samsung logo appears, press and hold the volume down button.
- 'Safe Mode' is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen. If 'Safe Mode' does not appear, complete steps 1-3 again.
- To exit Safe Mode, restart the phone. When it reboots, it will no longer be in Safe Mode.
