Add app shortcuts on your Galaxy phone

Hand adding an app shortcut for Google Play Store

Yep, you read that right. You really can add shortcuts for almost everything you want on your phone. Add shortcuts to the Lock or Home screens, and access your favorite apps without all the hassle.

Note: Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and phone model.

Add shortcuts to Favorite apps

You can have a maximum of 5 apps on the Favorite apps bar. Before you add a shortcut, you may have to remove at least one app.

To remove Home screen shortcuts, touch and hold the app you want to remove, and then tap Remove from Home.

To add, navigate to the Apps screen, touch and hold the desired app, and then drag it to the desired location on the Home screen.

If you have so many favorites that picking 5 shortcuts is just impossible, you can create a folder by dragging a shortcut on top of another shortcut. We really thought of everything.

Add shortcuts to the Lock screen

Sometimes you need to make a call or take a photo on the fly. You can set up two shortcuts that you can instantly access from the Lock screen.

To add shortcuts to your favorite apps, navigate to Settings, and then search for and select App shortcuts. Tap Left shortcut and Right shortcut to set each one. Once the shortcut is set, simply swipe the app shortcuts from the Lock screen in any direction to open.
