Set Up Face Recognition Security on Galaxy S9 and S9+
Feel like an FBI agent when you use Facial Recognition on Galaxy S9 and S9+. It's just like those spy movies you watched as a kid: this feature registers your face to unlock your phone! It can also verify your identity in apps like Samsung Pay. Have fun being a secret agent while keeping your phone and personal files secure.
Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider and software version.
Your phone can be unlocked by someone that looks similar to you (such as a twin).
Face Recognition is less secure than Pattern, PIN, Iris, or Fingerprint.
Tips for Facial Recognition
Your phone is smart, but it's not a mind reader. It still needs to recognize your face for Facial Recognition to work. Keep these tips in mind for best results:
Glasses, hats, masks, makeup, and beards can affect the recognition process.
Make sure you are in a well-lit area and the camera lens is clean.
Make sure your image is not blurry.
Enable Facial Recognition
Make sure your sister never gets into your personal business again. Open Settings, and then search for and select Face Recognition. Touch CONTINUE. You will need to set up a lock screen before continuing. Enter a PIN, and then touch CONTINUE. Re-enter the PIN, and then touch OK. Review the information on face recognition, and then touch CONTINUE. Hold the phone 8-20 inches away from your face and position your face inside the circle. Hold the position until the progress bar reaches 100 percent. Review the information on FASTER RECOGNITION, and then touch OK. To enable facial recognition, touch TURN ON.
