Wash winter fabrics in your Samsung washing machine

Wash winter fabrics in your Samsung washing machine
Flannel items
Flannel shirts and blankets are among the most popular for winter, as this fabric is insulating and will keep you feeling toasty. Review our tips for washing your flannel items:
- Always use a Delicate or Gentle cycle to avoid unnecessary friction.
- Cool or warm water is recommended. Hot water may cause the flannel to shrink.
- Avoid liquid fabric softeners, as these may leave a stiff residue on the fabric.
- If your flannel items are rough after the wash and rinse cycle, you can run another rinse cycle. Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the additional rinse cycle to soften the fabric.
- It’s best to air-dry your flannel. This will prevent accidental shrinking. You can use a clothesline or simply lay the items flat to dry overnight.
Down items
Down items, such as comforters, are made from the plumage of ducks and geese. Since it’s a natural form of insulation, it’s best to clean down items with a bit of extra care. Review our tips for taking care of down items:
- A front load washer and dryer are best for down items since they provide enough space, since down is typically used for large comforters.
- Always use a Delicate or Gentle cycle and as little laundry detergent as possible. You may need to run an additional rinse cycle to remove all of the detergent residue.
- Lukewarm water is best for down, as cold or hot water can be too rough on down.
- Do not use bleach or liquid fabric softeners.
- To dry your down items, make sure to use the lowest possible temperature setting on your dryer. The items should be removed only when they are completely dry. If they are still damp, you can hang the items on a clothesline or a drying rack.
Faux fur items
Faux fur is a stylish choice for winter coats, hats, and gloves. Some of your blankets and pillows may also have faux fur linings or decorations. Our faux fur care tips are below:
- These items should be soaked in lukewarm or cold water for about ten minutes before adding them to your washing machine. This will help loosen dirt from the fur.
- Always use a Delicate or Gentle cycle and as little laundry detergent as possible.
- Avoid using hot water, as heat may damage the items.
- It’s a good idea to place your faux fur items in a mesh laundry bag before adding them to your washing machine.
- To dry your items, place them on a flat surface to air-dry.
- Once the items are dry, you can use a wide-tooth comb to brush out the faux fur hair fibers if needed.
Fleece items
Fleece is most commonly used to make throw blankets, cozy sweaters, and outdoor jackets. Review the following tips to learn more about caring for your fleece items:
- Always use a Delicate or Gentle cycle and as little laundry detergent as possible.
- Cold water is best for fleece items, as hot or warm water may damage the fabric.
- It’s recommended to wash fleece items separately from other fabrics.
- Do not use bleach or liquid fabric softeners.
- To dry your items, use Cool or No Heat settings on your dryer. Do not use a high heat setting as this may cause the fabric to shrink or even melt. You can also hang the items on a clothesline or drying rack.
Wool and cashmere
Wool and cashmere are both incredibly delicate and should be placed in a mesh laundry bag before they are added to your washing machine. Since washing wool and cashmere is a similar process, we’ve combined the tips below:
- Always use a Delicate or Gentle cycle and as little laundry detergent as possible.
- Cool or cold water is best for wool and cashmere.
- It’s recommended to use wool or cashmere-specific detergent, such as Woolite Delicates.
- To dry wool and cashmere items, lay them on a flat surface. You can place a soft, clean towel underneath the items while they dry.
