Connect your Samsung fridge to a generator

Connect your Samsung fridge to a generator
Find the wattage and amperage for your fridge
Using a generator to keep your refrigerator up and running while the power is out can be a lifesaver. Since generators come in different sizes and supply different amounts of power, you’ll need to know the wattage and amperage required to power your fridge. Follow our recommendations so your fridge can perform its best and not risk damage while power is being restored.
If you aren't sure about the fridge's amperage and wattage, you can find it on the same label as the model code. This is usually located on the inside left wall of the fridge compartment. However, if the amps are not listed, you can divide the wattage by volts.
In the US, all regular outlets are 120 volts, so you can use the following equation: Watts / Volts = Amps
Select the right generator for your fridge
Once you figure out how much power your fridge requires, you'll know what kind of generator to use. For instance, most small recreational generators (up to 2000 watts) can power your fridge for a few hours.
Some generators do not have a power regulator, which means power may not be consistently delivered to the unit. This “dirty” power can damage your fridge. There are a few different ways to "clean" the power from a generator that does not have a power regulator:
- Use a generator that has a built-in inverter
- Attach an inverter to the generator
- Use a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
