Galaxy XR Travel mode

Travel mode is a new feature on the Galaxy XR designed to enhance your experience while seated in an airplane. This feature allows you to watch videos comfortably during flights, providing a seamless and enjoyable entertainment experience. By enabling Travel mode, users can optimize their Galaxy XR for in-flight use, ensuring smooth video playback and a more immersive experience. Follow the steps below to enable, use, and troubleshoot this feature effectively.

Galaxy XR Travel mode

Important
  • Travel mode is recommended for use only during flights.
  • Remain seated while using Travel mode and check for obstacles around you.
  • Avoid using Travel mode while walking or looking out the window.
  • If you're not using transportation, turn off Travel mode.

Turn Travel mode on or off

Press the Top button on the headset to open the Launcher. Point to and select Settings, and then select Advanced features. Select Travel mode, and then turn on or off the switch.

Fix issues with Travel mode

"Cannot detect surroundings" pop-up

  • Cause: Travel mode is not designed for use while walking or looking out the window.
  • Solution: Ensure Travel mode is enabled and use it only while seated in an airplane.

Screen tilted 

  • Cause: Minor turbulence or tilting of the aircraft may cause the screen to tilt. 
  • Solution: Travel mode should stabilize once the movement is steady. Use it only during flights.

Controller pointer shaking 

  • Cause: Some apps and features requiring 3D spatial recognition may not work properly in Travel mode.
  • Solution: Ensure Travel mode is enabled and avoid using apps that require 3D spatial recognition.

Floor recognition is not working for the Boundary

  • Cause: The Boundary feature may not function properly in Travel mode.
  • Solution: Turn off Travel mode if you're not using transportation.

Screen follows movement

  • Cause: In Travel mode, 6 DoF (Degrees of Freedom) tracking is disabled, and only 3 DoF rotation tracking is available.
  • Solution: Remain seated while using Travel mode and avoid moving around.
