Ensure the Perplexity app is installed and updated to the latest version.
  • Side button: Navigate to and tap Settings > Advanced features > Side button > Long press > Digital assistant App, and then select Perplexity. To let Perplexity assist you with content analysis, tap the Navigate up icon at the top of the screen to return to the previous menu. Enable Analyze on-screen text and Analyze on-screen images.
  • Voice wake-up: Navigate to and tap Settings > Advanced features > Voice wake-up, and then tap the switch next to Perplexity. Follow the on-screen instructions, and then tap Finish when you're done.

Activate Perplexity

Note
If Bixby is set to launch when pressing the Side button, Bixby will activate instead of Perplexity. To check, go to Settings > Advanced features > Side button > Long press.

There are a few ways to launch the Perplexity app on your phone.

  • Say "Hey, Plex" to use voice wake-up
  • Press and hold the Side (Power) button 
  • Swipe up from any Home screen to access the Apps, and then tap the app
     

Once Perplexity launches, you can interact with the assistant using voice commands, keyboard input, your camera, or by drawing around items. The screen must be unlocked to use certain features.

If you're experiencing issues with the Perplexity app on your phone, follow these steps to resolve common problems:

  1. Check for updates: Ensure the Perplexity app is up to date. Open the Galaxy Store, search for Perplexity, and install any available updates.
    Note: If you want to update the Perplexity app through the Google Play Store or encounter the message "Perplexity cannot be installed" on the Google Play Store, you must uninstall the app and reinstall it through the Play Store.

  2. Restart your device: A simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Power off your phone, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.

  3. Clear the app cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Perplexity > Storage, and tap Clear cache to refresh the app's performance.

  4. Reinstall the app: If issues persist, uninstall and reinstall Perplexity from the Galaxy Store.
    Note: If you want to use the Google Play Store, you must uninstall the app and reinstall it through the Play Store.

  5. Check the permissions: Ensure Perplexity has the necessary permissions for features like voice wake-up and app integration. Go to Settings > Apps > Perplexity > Permissions.

  6. Voice wake-up issues: Go to Settings > Advanced features > Voice wake-up. Turn on the switch to enable, follow the on-screen instructions, and then tap Finish. If the problem persists or Perplexity does not appear in the Voice wake-up menu, check for app updates in the Galaxy Store. 

  7. App integration problems: Ensure both your device's software and apps are up to date. Certain features may require the latest version for optimal functionality.
