How to use Samsung Direct voicemail on Galaxy devices

The Direct voicemail feature allows callers to leave a voicemail message when you are unable to answer. With this feature, you can:

  • Send incoming calls directly to voicemail.
  • Automatically route calls to voicemail after they ring for a specified duration.
  • Answer a call even while the caller is recording their voicemail message.

How to use Samsung Direct voicemail on Galaxy devices

Note
Direct voicemail is only available on Galaxy phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher. Features may vary depending on the device model, software version, and carrier.

Enable Direct voicemail feature

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap on the More options icon (the three vertical dots).

  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Direct voicemail.

  5. Tap the switch at the top of the page to enable Direct voicemail.

  6. After enabling Direct voicemail, tap Agree to accept the terms and conditions. 
  7. During an incoming call, swipe up to access More options.
  8. Select the Direct voicemail option.

  9. The voicemail greeting will begin, allowing the caller to leave a message for you.

  • Direct voicemail only works when your phone is on and connected to your mobile network. Normal call rates apply.
  • Direct voicemail doesn’t work for video calls. Direct voicemail might not work if your phone’s internal storage is almost full.

Enable Auto send to voicemail and Transcript assist options

Note
Voice transcription might not be accurate. The voice transcription will be visible on the screen even when your phone is locked.

You can configure calls to automatically go to voicemail after a set ringing duration. The Transcript assist option allows you to specify the time before sending incoming calls to voicemail.

  1. After enabling the Direct voicemail, tap on Auto send to voicemail and turn it ON.

  2. Set the desired time for sending incoming calls to voicemail after ringing.

View what callers say while recording voicemail

You can view the voicemail messages left by callers during recording.

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Select the call from the Recent calls list.

  3. Tap the Voicemail message.

  4. View the recorded message, and optionally, add it to Reminder for future reference.
