5G network service drains battery quickly on Samsung phone

5G network service drains battery quickly on Samsung phone
At this time, the 5G networks are only used for data connections and are not yet capable of carrying phone calls and messages. Your phone will need to maintain a connection to the 3G or LTE network in addition to the 5G network so that phone calls, text messages, and data will be delivered consistently.
Because your phone is connected to multiple networks simultaneously, the battery will drain faster than one would typically expect, and the phone may get warmer than when solely on 3G or LTE. To make up for this, you can try using features that will optimize and improve your phone's overall performance.
- Open Settings, swipe to and tap Battery, and then tap View details to review information about app usage.
- Shorten your phone's screen timeout. Open Settings, tap Display, and then tap Screen timeout. Select your desired option.
- Block accidental touches. Open Settings, tap Display, and then tap the switch next to Accidental touch protection to turn it on.
- Let Adaptive brightness learn your usage patterns and automatically adjust the screen's brightness. Open Settings, tap Display and then turn on the switch next to Adaptive brightness.
- Turn on Power saving mode to decrease your phone’s performance. Open Settings, swipe to and tap Battery, and then tap Power saving. Turn on the switches next to your desired settings.
- Switch to Light performance profile to prioritize battery life over processing speed. Open Settings, tap Device care, and then tap Performance profile. Select Light.
- Put rarely used apps to sleep in the background to avoid battery drainage. Open Settings, tap Battery, and then tap Background usage limits. Adjust your desired options.
As the 5G networks grow in capacity and capability, they will be able to handle more of your phone's functions with less battery drain.
