Galaxy phone rings even when set to vibrate or mute

If your Galaxy phone continues to ring despite being set to vibrate or mute, it could be due to several reasons. This article will guide you through troubleshooting and resolving this issue to ensure your phone behaves as expected.

Galaxy phone rings even when set to vibrate or mute

1

Check the Do not disturb settings.

Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the Quick panel settings. Tap the Settings icon, tap Notifications, and then tap Do not disturb. If Do not disturb is turned on, verify if you've allowed an exception for specific contacts or repeat callers to bypass Do Not Disturb mode in the Allowed during Do not disturb section.
2

Check the Sound and vibration settings.

Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the Quick panel settings. Tap the Settings icon, tap Sound and vibration.

  • Make sure Vibrate is selected if you want vibration instead of ringing.
  • Tap Ringtone and drag the volume slider to the left to lower the volume to the minimum level to ensure the ringer is off.

Alternatively, to disable the ringer during an incoming call, press the Volume button on the side of your phone.

3

Check Contact settings.

If the phone rings for a specific contact after making the changes above, check the contact settings.

Open the Contacts app, and then select the contact. Tap More from the bottom of the menu, and then tap Change ringtones/vibration. Tap Ringtone, and then turn off the switch for Ring even when set to Vibrate or Mute.
