Reminders not registering through other apps on Galaxy devices

Some Galaxy phones and tablets running Android B OS/One UI 8.0 may experience issues with reminders not registering properly when using apps like Phone, Messages, Calendar, Voice Recorder, or AI Select. This issue occurs if the Voice Recorder app has been updated to version 21.5.81.43 without restarting your device. Restarting the device resolves the problem, ensuring reminders function correctly across all apps.

Reminders not registering through other apps on Galaxy devices

1

Identify the issue.

Check if reminders are not registering properly in apps like Phone, Messages, Calendar, Voice Recorder, or AI Select. Look for symptoms such as:
  • No registration failure notice.
  • Unresponsive reminder buttons.
  • Missing category settings.
  • App crashes.
2

Check the Voice Recorder app version.

Access the Apps screen on your device. Touch and hold the Voice Recorder app until a pop-up menu appears, and then tap the App info icon (the lowercase letter "i") in the top right corner. In the next window, swipe down to the bottom of the screen to view the app version. Verify if the app version is 21.5.81.43 or later:

  • If the app version is outdated, skip to Step 3 to check for updates in the Galaxy Store.
  • If the app version is updated to 21.5.81.43 or later, skip to Step 4 to restart your device.
3

Check for app updates.

Open the Galaxy Store on your device. Tap the Menu (the three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner, and then select Updates. Tap the Update icon next to the app you want to update. Optionally, you can tap Update all in the top-right corner to update all available apps at once.
4

Restart your device.

Swipe down from the top of the screen using two fingers to open the Quick settings panel. Tap the Power icon in the top right corner (next to the Settings icon). Tap Restart from the Power menu, and then tap Restart again to confirm. Your device will automatically restart.
5

Test the reminder functionality.

After restarting your device, open an app such as Phone, Messages, Calendar, Voice Recorder, or AI Select, and attempt to register a reminder.

  • Example 1: Using the Calendar app, select a day to open the calendar editor. Tap the Reminders tab, then enter your details and choose your preferred day and time. Tap Save to confirm your details.
  • Example 2: Using the Messages app, select a conversation. Touch and hold a message bubble you want to be reminded about, and then tap Add to reminder from the pop-up menu.

Then open the Reminder app to check if the details have been registered.

6

Clear the app cache (optional).

Clearing the app cache serves as a refresh for your applications, eliminating temporary files that could be causing performance issues or preventing the app from functioning properly. If the problem continues after performing the previous steps, consider clearing the cache of the affected apps.

Open Settings on your device, and then swipe to and tap Apps. Select the specific app you're experiencing issues with, such as Voice Recorder, Calendar, Phone, Messages, or AI Select. Tap Storage, and then tap Clear cache to remove temporary files and refresh the app.
