Samsung Galaxy device is not fast charging
Samsung Galaxy device is not fast charging
Check your charger and charging cable
Use Samsung compatible chargers and cables
Even if chargers and cables look similar, charging quality and performance may vary.
- For optimized charging performance and device safety, Samsung recommends using compatible Samsung chargers and charging cables designed for your Galaxy device.
- You cannot fast charge your device using a regular charger.
- If fast wireless charging is not working, check your settings as listed in the "Turn on fast charging settings" section below, and make sure you are using a fast charger.
Check your charger and cable
Using the right charger and cable is key to fast charging.
Here's what you need to know:
- Fast Charging (15W): Use a 15W USB-A adapter and a USB-A to micro-USB or USB-C cable. A 3A-rated cable is enough for this.
- Super Fast Charging (25W): Use a 25W USB-C adapter. A 3A-rated cable might work but could limit the speed. For best results, use a 5A-rated USB-C cable.
- Super Fast Charging 2.0 (45W - 60W): Use a 45W or 60W USB-C adapter and a 5A-rated USB-C cable. A 3A cable won't work well here.
You can find compatible charging adapters and cables on our website.
Check the charger connection
If the charger is not connected properly, the device may not charge normally.
- Disconnect the charger from the Galaxy device and reconnect the charging cable securely to the charging port.
Check for charger or cable damage
A damaged charger or charging cable may prevent normal charging.
- Try charging the device using another compatible Samsung charger and cable.
- If charging still does not work, visit a Samsung service center for hardware inspection.
Remove debris from the charging port
Dust or foreign material inside the charging port is one of the most common causes of charging issues. If dust, lint, or debris builds up inside the charging port, the charging cable may not connect properly to the charging terminals.

- Turn off the Galaxy device, and then use a flashlight to inspect the charging port.
- If dust or debris is visible, carefully remove it without using metal objects or liquids.
Turn on fast charging settings
If your Galaxy device supports fast charging, make sure fast charging is enabled in Settings.
- Open Settings, then tap Battery.
- Tap Charging settings.
- Turn on Fast charging and Fast wireless charging.

- Starting from the Galaxy S23 series, Fast charging and Super fast charging settings are combined into one Fast charging setting.
- Fast charging may not work when connected to a PC or standard USB device.
Check battery protection settings
If Battery protection is enabled, charging may stop early or the maximum charging level may be limited depending on the selected option.
- Open Settings, then tap Battery.
- Tap Battery protection.

- Select a different option or turn off Battery protection.

Check for moisture detection notifications
- Check for moisture detection notifications.

- Shake the device gently to remove moisture from the charging port, then wipe the device with a soft, clean cloth.

- Dry the device in a well-ventilated area using cool air.
Check cable charging status using Samsung Members app
You can use Samsung Members Phone diagnostics to check the current cable charging condition of your Galaxy device.
- Open the Samsung Members app, then tap Support.

- Tap Get Started. Start the full diagnostics first, stop the test, and then select the item you want to test. If the diagnostics page does not open properly, try using the Samsung Internet app.
- Tap Cable charging.

- Check the diagnostic results.
