Samsung Air Purifier has a strange smell when operating
Remove your filters and check them for odors.
Keep the area ventilated.
Your air purifier utilizes fresh air to help with purifying odors. If the air purifier is kept in an enclosed space (like a bathroom or closet) without good ventilation, the odors will linger and shorten the life of the filters, causing them to saturate with odor faster.
If a smell is lingering but hasn't saturated into your filters yet, help extend the life of your filters by opening doors and windows to ventilate the area, and leave them open for 3-4 hours as the air purifier runs.
To prevent smells from lingering in the first place, you'll want to ventilate the area before running the air purifier in these situations:
- When grilling fish or meat or cooking with oil or gas
- When using an air freshener, diffuser, or scented candle
- When cleaning, especially with strong-smelling cleaners or dusting
- When replacing wallpaper or painting
Don't use the air purifier in a humid environment.
Humidity can cause moisture to linger in the filters of your air purifier, eventually causing an odor.
If the filters smell due to moisture, dry them well (preferably in sunlight) before using them again.
